Stella in Adventure World [AKiMW mod]

Hi everyone!
So... I started this little project last weekend, in order to learn how to use KiddEd. Have in mind this is a beginner´s first attempt on KiddEd, thus, everything is still very crude. Hopefully I will make progress and finish it someday! Here is the first “early-pre-alpha-test” demo video displaying level 1 and a tiny bit of level 2. I am currently working on enemies sprites, among other things. The video was recorded with Kega Fusion. Enjoy! =) |

As for the plot, yes! It will be a prequel to The Lost Stars. I will try to post updates in a regular basis. Yesterday I tested it on "real" hardware (Analogue Mega Sg) and so far it runs perfectly. Cheers! ;) |

Wait, those new Stella sprites raise a question: Is the red dot in Alex's face supposed to be his mouth? I always assumed it was supposed to be his nose, judging from the bigger picture of Alex from the map screen between levels. | |

Yes yes ... I just had a serious problem with the master tile program in compression and i still couldn't solve it. Ask some friends for help. There is little left but this bug has hindered the entire hack. |

Tec Toy had very limited resources at the time, such as not using Portuguese punctuation and not translating compressed graphics, apart from the legendary Phantasy Star translation in which they used an English translation program that in many ways became meaningless to us as the introductory text. But in any case, they did an extraordinary job considering the situation of our country in the period, then they evolved a little. | |

Now that you mentioned... maybe it i his nose? Judging from the sprites of Alex falling in the water, I think it is. Anyway, my brain "fixed" that dot as his mouth, and I cannot see it other way! O_o However in most japanese artwork, Alex appears with a big open mouth, and his nose is quite inconspicuous. So... maybe its his mouth? o__O |

Hi folks!
So, here goes a new update on the development of Stella in Adventure World. Level 2 is basically finished (check the gameplay video); I improved some of the enemies sprites and added more aesthetic and gameplay related enhancements to level 1. The game plot is also fully delineated, but I will not spoil it too much. Basically, it will be a prequel to TLS, with ties to SW and HTW, and revolves around Alex not coming back home after visiting a certain arcade. Revo> Thanks for the advice about the hoverboard. I’ve fixed it. To everyone else> Many thanks for the feedback! I will continue to develop SiAW as I go on learing how to use KiddEd, and will try to post updates on a regular basis. Cheers ^_^v |

Stella in Adventure World demo 1.3

Hi everyone! Although version 1.2 was supposed to be the "definitive" SiAW demo, I have noticed some minute tile color/placement errors and decided to correct them. Aside from that, I have made various minor aesthetic and level design changes along the game, all which correspond to improvements made to the wip final version.
So, here goes SiAW demo v1.3. The final version of the game will be finished sometime in 2023. Until then, I hope you guys enjoy the demo and its exclusive secret side quest. ^^ |

I just found this and gotta say I really liked the mood. Stella is cute as a button. Good fun.
The game felt unforgiving, but you might have perfectly captured the feeling of playing AKiMW 30+ years ago: frequent dying, needing to replay to get better, and not caring so much about losing lives because the character is so cute when dying. I guess we need a much harder game now than when we were kids :) |

Thanks! That is the idea. I´ve tried to make this a difficult, yet enjoyable game. A game that can be conquered after some practice. It is supposed to play, look and feel like something Sega would have made around 1986-1989, which to me, is the best period of the SMS commercial life, even though it was only released in the end of '89 here in Brazil. ^^ By the way, the final version is only a few steps away from completion, with good chances of a physical release. ^^ |
