Sonic 1 Game Gear Hacking Idea
![]() |
I have been Sonic 1 (Game Gear) with the Master System-like sprites when a thought hit me:
The Sonic 1 (Game Gear) prototype still used the Master System sprites, so what if, just if, someone could take the code and mappings from the prototype and put it into the final build, would it then be possible to port the Master System sprites into the final game? |

Tailsnic already did that some time ago:

I think you missed the point, I meant actually use the REAL SMS sprites and not modified Game Gear graphics :P |

I don't remember the details, but real SMS sprites could not be used in Gamegear's engine. That's the reason why tailsnic took the master system ones and made them narrower.

Real sprites would mean changing the data in a much deeper level than just a sprite hack.
