Damn, that's cool.

Hey, would this program work for doing music on the ColecoVision? They both have the same PSG I believe. The music programs for the Coleco are totally inadequate, you basically have to do everything by hand. It'd be awesome if this doubled for the Coleco too.

It's an interface change for VGMTool, not a music making program.

SOURCE REPOSITORY NOW ON GITHUB: https://github.com/vgmtool/vgmtool

only the gui code is in, and phoenix+nall needs to be gotten separately (this will be remedied shortly).

any programmers here on github who want to contribute let me know.

@maxim - if you're on github let me know your username and i'll add you to the vgmtool organization.

interface change is the first goal, second goal is code update and/or replacement for cross-platformability, third goal is integration of vgm2mid, fourth goal is integration of valleybell's command-line tools functionality (three of which are mid2vgm-psg, mid2vgm-opl, and mid2vgm-ym2612), fifth goal is integration of shiru's instrument dumping tools (vgm2opm, vgm2tfi, vgm2vgi).

so while it won't directly be a music "making" program, it will be able to convert btwn formats.

*cough*

I wrote the 2612 one; ValleyBell improved it, though.

For what it's worth, I will gladly let you use my 2612 mid2vgm code if you are interested into it, but I can't talk in behalf of ValleyBell so I don't know if the same would apply to his improvements or not.

I'm not going to release the source of my original version to the public because it's full of bad things (but, as I said, I can send it to you if you want), but I wouldn't mind if ValleyBell will want to release the source of his improved version, because he likely fixed all the bad things I did :)

Of course that will depend on him.

valleybell has indeed released his version of the source to me and given me permission to use it. very likely i'll be taking that source and recreating it using nall functionality, tho, instead of using it directly.
