The video is unavailable, but this program covered game development in 1986.

One picture shows Fantasy Zone art being drawn on custom Sega Digitizer hardware

Sega's @okunari has posted the photos a few years ago. He says the video isn't publicly available. I guess they are in NHK archives and will surface at some point.

Notice that the digitizer logo uses the same font as the prototype Master System logo...

I've seen this "Digitizer System" before somewhere, but not sure where. Possibly Beep! scans, but I can't remember right now ... hopefully it will come back to me.

Interesting :D

Perhaps, the work was very comfortable with this "Digitizer System" in those days, for both graphic designers and programmers.

It's the 80s. Gotta prevent teenage boys from using too much imagination on a blurry capture projected onto their blurry CRT it!

That's about the only explanation I have got, anyway. It does seem a bit ridiculous when you realize what the shot actually is.

Well, we got used to much worse/better (depends how you see it) nowadays, but it could be a seen as a little "sexy", or trying to be. In the historical context of games having to fend criticism from parents and showcasing the picture to a wide audience it could have made sense to just blur it.

That or, the game it comes from hadn't been announced, or cancelled,? Which game is that anyway?

My first guess would be some arcade game. Didn't Sega make a few "gal" games?
I'll check that out...

If you open that image in Photoshop you can align the blurred stuff in a perfectly rectangular shape. Also, there's no grain in there.

That picture was blurred in 2016.
