Here's Joe Montana Football (GG version to be exact).

Here's a list of Game Gear exclusive games that never appeared on the SMS. It takes awhile to load and might not be 100% accurate, but it'll at least save some time converting games that are already available as SMS versions: http://www.smspower.org/Games/Index?action=search&q=group=Games+name=*-GG+if...
I exported it years ago on RetroRGB.com, but I haven't gone back and checked it since: https://www.retrorgb.com/gamegeargames.html |

Here's the Winter Olympics (Japanese Version). Of course Europe (original companies) and Brazil (Tec Toy or other) were at their game.

Does anyone know how to port the Game Gear version of Bubble Bobble and to get its colors working on the SMS?

So, does anyone plan on trying to do the Game Gear versions of Outrun and Space Harrier and put them on the SMS?

So, I'm in a process of making an FM version of Pengo when it is converted from Game Gear to the Master System. I wanna try something new that no one has ever done before (unless if you prove me wrong). Wish me luck.

I am working on Incredible Crash Dummies, I got the full color conversion, the left side of the screen is active, and down is start on the player 2 controller. All of that is set, but one thing is that when I used the full color conversion, you see what happens in the images.

Hi!
Crash Dummies was also released for Master System I do not observe differences between two versions, except the obvious ones, screen resolution and color depth |

Here's the final version of Ms. Pac-Man being converted from GG2SMS. Colors are fully converted, left column blank active, start is down on player two's controller, and the header is fixed.

Here's two conversions of the same game, but different regions. The Vampire game, colors fully converted, left column blank active, start is down and header is fixed. (And IDK why the TGA photos I converted to PNG are upside-down)

Why convert games that already have their own master system version?
![]() ![]() |
|
|
![]() |
1. I never knew there was an SMS version of Master of Darkness, but I feel like a GG2SMS conversion should be nice. 2. Is there a Namco version of Ms. Pac-Man for the SMS? All I see is Tengen (not trying to sound rude). |
|
![]() ![]() |
|
|
![]() |
No problem. But why not convert games that haven't been converted yet? |
|
![]() ![]() |
|
|
![]() |
I am in the process of doing that, so far, some games just might not have the color code I'm looking for. |
|

|
|
![]() |
I wonder if it is the same situation as the NES and SNES which also have two Ms. Pac-Man versions, due to the existence of Tengen versions. Tengen's version of the game (originally developed for the NES, ported later to Genesis and SNES, and I assume the SMS version is part of that?) was kind of a souped-up version of the game with features like new levels, a turbo function and two-player simultaneous gameplay. While on those consoles, Namco themselves wrote a separate port that was a more basic and faithful port to the original (the SNES version probably both because it was a mini-game within another game, Pac-Man 2, and because Tengen's port to the same console hadn't yet been written, unlike the Genesis). |

There are some games con GG that are exactly the same game on MS, and othe games like Ninbga Gaiden, Aerial Assault, Double Dragon and some more that are totally different.
On the other handm you can check this list with GG to SMS hacks already done, maybe you can tru to improve it or choose new games if you want. https://www.smspower.org/Hacks/GameGearToMasterSystem Some games that a GG hack doesn't exists: The Adventures of Batman & Robin Double Dragon Hurricanes Panzer dragoon mini |

Here's a v1.1 patch for Ms. Pac-Man. The controller code has been changed, so now Start is linked with Button 1.

It is not working on emulicious. Freezes at the beginning of the game. Meka and Fusion worked.

|

Y'know, I got the same thing too. Either the emulator is coded to some points where the SMS / GG code isn't correct or there is some code that is making it Non-Emulicious. |

Hello my friend
You may erase ports $03, $04, $05 and $06 presents in your GG2SMS, for all gg2sms conversions $00 to $06 read/write register, system freeze At $15E6, change $D3 $06 with $00 $00, game now is working in Emulicious and probably in real hardware |

Y'know, I got the same response from Revo, I'm gonna check that out now. |

Here we go. I tested this on Emulicious, and it works perfectly fine now. Probably on real hardware, too.

For those who said that there wasn't a GG2SMS port of Hurricanes, here you go. Made sure that all the GG ports from $00-$06 were gone.

Mind if I have my own take on Galaga '91 / Galaga 2? I did this for only Galaga 2, everything is converted, and the GG's start button is now ported to the pause button (0x0066).

I ported the Game Gear version of G-LOC to the Master System. GG registers removed, colors converted, and the GG start button is set to the pause button (0x0066). The only thing is that on Emulicious and Genesis Plus GX, the game just crashes after the USA / European BIOS, but works fine on the Japanese BIOS / no BIOS.

So, the faker of me and BcnAbel76 (Royal Sonic) actually was smart to show me the list of Game Gear games that are needed for the Master System:
5 in One Funpak The Adventures of Batman & Robin Bartman Meets Radioactive Man Caesars Palace Car Licence Chicago Syndicate Choplifter III Cliffhanger Devilish Doraemon Waku Waku Pocket Paradise Double Dragon Ernie Els Golf F-15 Strike Eagle Faceball 2000 Factory Panic FIFA Soccer 96 Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball Garfield Caught in the Act Gear Works Jungle Strike Kawasaki Superbike Challenge Kuni-Chan no Game Tengoku Part 2 Last Action Hero Magical Taruruuto-kun Mappy NBA Jam Tournament Edition Neko Dai Suki Ninku Gaiden OutRun Panzer Dragoon Mini PGA Tour Golf II Rise of the Robots Side Pocket Space Harrier Taz-Mania Urban Strike Wheel of Fortune Yogi Bear in Yogi Bears Goldrush Zoop I will see if I can get the color of the games to work, convert the controllers, and remove the ports of them. |

Back again with another GG2SMS hack. Here's Caesars Palace, another game that wasn't released for the Master System, but for the Game Gear and Genesis / Mega Drive.

Hello Stokes.
You can continue hacking this version. 95% colors are ok |

Just tried the GG Shinobi patch with the update for the Mega Drive start button and it didn't work for me. The start button was non-responsive and the functionality was located in the A and C buttons and completely eliminated the ability to jump which is a bit of a handicap for a Shinobi game.
I ran it on an Everdrive Pro cartridge and a Mega SG with a Competition Pro Mark III controller. It's a six button pad with a mode button for a native 3 button environment for the MD games that require it. This feature didn't make a difference with the Shinobi update. I'm guessing the update only supports the official MD controllers. |

Hi, I friend of mine has translated Shin Chan to Spanish, and he would like to adapt the patch to work with the sms.
Here there is the patch: https://www.romhacking.net/translations/6584/ Thank you!. |

Hello, everyone! I'm new to SMS Power, sort of, I already knew of this place before, due to the forums and information from the website itself, which I always found to be useful for us SEGA lovers out there, either way I've finally registered because I think I might've found a bug with some of the GG2SMS conversions I've tried, and I don't know if its ever been documented before, so I thought I might share them here, to hear from people who know about these things with more depth than I.
I experiemented with more than one title (Sonic 1 & Sonic Triple Trouble), more than one IPS patcher (marcrobledo's & bbbradsmith's), more than one emulator (KEGA Fusion, Osmose & GearSystem), all to make sure the fault didn't belong to any of them, and I encountered the same bug every single time, I'll post screenshots to give a better understanding of the bug itself, but pretty much it messes the colors and the patch isn't actually applied from what I can tell, I'm not sure what's happening. |

Did you remember to change the file extension from ".gg" to ".sms"?
![]() ![]() ![]() |
|
|
![]() |
Ah... well, this is embarassing. I can't believe that I went through the trouble of downloading multiple SMS/GG emulators and experimenting with multiple IPS patchers online, being certain that I was facing some sort of complicated bug which hadn't been seen before... when all that happened is that I forgot to change the file extension, it feels similar to when you're looking for something around your house only to realize it was right in front of you the whole time, at plain sight. Now that I changed the extension it's all working as intended, and I'm being able to play just fine on my prefered emulator, KEGA Fusion, thank you so much for the help! |
