Sega Master System / Mark III / Game Gear
When we reviewed this on the Mega Drive we thought it was a bit too close to Sonic to stand alone as a game in its own right. Agree or disagree, the choice is yours, but I do have to say that I was for more impressed with this. It's close to the Mega Drive version - both playability wise and in the graphics department too. Okay, so I wasn't that keen on the Mega Drive, but often the same thing will work better on a different platform. Sonic always looked different on the 8-Bits anyway, and Ristar does have a 16-Bit feel about him. If you've got a Mega Drive and a Game Gear, I'd plump for this version.
