OK, where better to start than at the top of the list?

After Burner
After Burner (update?)
After Burner (FM)

First off, we need to figure out what that second file is about, and which are the right files. We have an author credit, can we get some (credible) links for verification, and his name in Japanese? We need to check the FM file sounds right when it loops. Track names in Japanese, or an OST track listing, are also good.

Useful links:

http://ng-stg.hp.infoseek.co.jp/gm/ (check the status bar as you mouse over links)
http://www.google.com/ (can't think of anything else, the kakasi web frontend seems to be down)

Also, someone please post a title screen shot for the game, that's been PNGOUT optimised.

Just checked the files and found something, the difference between After Burner and the file After Burner Update is that AFU is missing the Get Ready sample and the timing change.

In other words the update is more out of date as comparing the two dates so the updated file is just listed as After Burner.

As for the names, there are from the OST (and arcade sound test).

OST cover scans at gamemusicimages.com (attached below)
Listing at GMR

Hiroshi Miyauchi =
She's since married and become Hiroshi Kawaguchi = 川口博史, worth noting somewhere.

Track listing:
Quote
Maximum Power
Final Take-Off
After Burner
Super Stripe
Red Out
City 202
Get Ready

Anyone care to translate? Some of this CD listing might help. Or is it more appropriate to keep the English used on the OST listing?

Edit: PopJisyo rocks :)
Quote
Maximum Power =
After Burner =
Super Stripe =
City 202 =

All these are just katakana phonetic representations, I think, so maybe not worth using?

OK, this information should be added in the pack and I'm already doing it so all three are deletable there =P (actually, keep the FM one, I don't have a copy)

Let me try to translate these titles
Maximum power (makishimamu.pawaa)
Final take-off (fainaru.teiku.ofu)
Red out (reddo.auto)
Super stripe (suupaa.sutoraipu)
After Burner (afutaabaanaa)
City 202 (Alien Syndrome) (shiti 202 eirianshindoroomu)
taitoru [Title]
raundo ?? [Round ??] (with 2 kanjis I don't know...)
doomusu.dei (mein BGM) [Doomsday (Main BGM)]
kiraa.insutinkuto (bosu BGM) [Killer Instinct (Boss BGM)]
endingu [Ending]
neemu.entorii (suupaahanguon) [Name Entry (Super Hang On)]
oopuningu [Opening]
haado.roodo [Hard Road]
autoraido.a.kuraishisu [Outraid a Crisis?]
supurintaa [Sprinter]
uiningu.ran [Winning ..Lan? Run?]

I'll just add the After Burner information on the pack and re-send it... insert even the Title Screen.png =P

(actually, I'm not sure how to make this PNG file, hope it's alright...)

The screenshot is fine, except that it could be optimised (eg. using PNGOUT), but that's easy for me to do in 2 seconds.

Same screenshot, smaller file

Round-hyôji (round display).

Johnnyz wrote
autoraido.a.kuraishisu [Outraid a Crisis?]

I think the canonical English is "Outride a Crisis".

Winning Run. It's another Sega game.

Well,... I think the only missing information is the author for the voice "Get Ready" ^_^

That mistake was done by someone who really wanted to go sleep =_= (just made a little confusion with english and portuguese...)

(besides, I never knew Hiroshi Miyauchi/Kawaguchi was female..)

EDIT: one more thing O_o about the FM pack! FM packs are already being accepted or there are still the errors like before and the current packs will have to be re-done? Because I still have all those FM musics asking for being trimmed and packed... (and the current After Burner FM pack have trimming mistakes, and I have the non-trimmed versions to correct this easily)

FM music is acceptable if it sounds right, but it requires extra effort - looping of PSG just needs checking that the looping is correctly timed, but FM also needs you to check that the sound isn't screwed up by the trimming.

Maximum Power in the FM pack seems to be mis-timed when it loops.

The FM pack's M3U has extra #EXTINF lines which shouldn't be there.

Already fixed it, and re-trimmed Maximum Power and Super Stripe (there is still something wrong, when I optimize Super Stripe, the first drum simply disappear) O_o

Sending the pack soon (when I'm home), just need to add credits to Grass-eatin'me since I've used some older files to re-do the pack.

Is Hiroshi Miyauchi really a woman?

I think not. I'm not sure where I got that from, maybe a cultural confusion about changing one's family name when married?

Now comes my doubt: Izuho Takeuchi today is Izuho Numata... is Izuho a female name, .. like Mizuho? Or maybe it's male or "unissex"? o_o

We talked about Kawaguchi/Miyauchi already some years ago.

Japanese guys can take the family name of their wives when these have no male siblings, or their family run important businesses. In which case, the new husband is somehow "adopted" by his wife's family and he's strongly invited to change his name. This is especially true for gaijin husbands.
