Dumb question about Castle of Illusion...

In the Castle of Illusion Mickey Mouse game, is there supposed to be a small, semi-transparent black bar on the top of the screen? Doesn't show up in other games.
Just curious, thanks.

On the Game Gear, there are black bars because the game uses the Master System compatibility mode.
