What type of memory I have to use with a Game Gear repro?

I all. I'm going to do a Sonic the Hedgehog 1 repro for Game Gear. The rom is the one I did with the Master System's sprites style. I have a Lion King's cartridge donor, but I don't know what memory to use. The Lion King's size is 512KB, and Sonic the Hedgehog size is 256KB.

You need a donor with mapper, so a 1mo game, the most easy to find is Garefield.

I think that until 512KB roms, there's no need a mapper, so I don't have that problem. I am questioning about what pin 32 memory to use with.

I'm guessing most Game Gear games used ROM chips with the mapper embedded.
Since you're not going to be able to get new ROM chips with an embedded mapper, that is why the suggestion to get a cart with a separate mapper chip.

No, you need a separate mapper chip and they're quite rare/unknown for Game Gear.
