Sony CXA1145P - Black ground cable on underside of board
Post Posted: Tue Apr 05, 2016 11:42 am
Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone could provide any info on this.

All of my PAL SMS2 consoles have a black wire from pin 1 of the CXA1145P to C39.

I have recently obtained another SMS. Board type 171-5922A / IC BD M4Jr. PAL. It does not have this black cable soldered.

Does anyone know the reason as to why these components share the ground? The reason I ask is that the RF output displays only a black screen. Looks like the prior owner tried to fix this by reflowing the RF module/IC/Power Switch.

It would have been a "fix" they did during manufacturing, no real issue.

I have had Segas with dead RF modules, bypassing it and doing a composite mod (at the least) and they work fine.

I tried the composite mod. No joy. Still get a black screen.

I've done multiple composite mods before. Not sure what is happening.

None of the caps look to have blown.
