Trying to fix a Sega Game Gear
Post Posted: Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:07 am
Hello there!

I've got a Sega Game Gear that does not work and I've seen that I may get some help in here!

Symptoms are: it doesn't turn on with batteries. It turns on with power adaptor but it only shows some lines on the screen and no sound.

I've replaced all the capacitors on the console, since this is the first thing you see recommended everywhere. But it had no effect.

I've given a good clean to the board with isopropyl alcohol too.

Any recommendations on what I could try next?

Thanks a lot :)

Hi,

Always check the simpliest things first.

1 - It doesn't turn ON on battery : Have you checked it (Old baterie MUST be disposed correctly / then replaced with exact same specification)

2 - Batery OK : Maybe the "power switching / charging" circuit is not functioning properly.

Do you know how to check it ?
