There's the Pro Action Replay for the Master System which does a lot more than the Game Genie. It allows you to search for codes to make them yourself and it's very easy to use. I highly recommend finding one.

It /might/ be interesting, but since the PAR already exists and does a lot more than a Game Genie ever did it's pretty redundant.

Strictly speaking they do different things (RAM vs ROM patching) and thus each can do things the other can't. But hacking a GG GG (!) to work on a SMS would be very different from hacking a game.

Whoops. You're right; my mistake. In all seriousness though, anything /could/ be done, but is it worth the time, effort, and demand?

I suspect you could somehow replace the Game Genie ROM with one modified to work in SMS mode (if it doesn't do that already when used with an SMS-GG game) and bodge cartridge port adaptors on both ends. The ROM part is probably the hardest bit. As you say, it may not be worth the effort.

You could learn...

I wonder what you would get if you used the expansion port method with a cartridge adaptor to dump the Game Genie?

It may be even better to isolate the ROM and dump it directly, but I think it's a glop top...

I made a video a time ago using the Game Genie for Game Gear + SMS adapter to play with secret characters on SMS Mortal Kombat II.

In other way, is possible to use on a real hardware, probably the only problem is the START button, that you'll need to remap.

Here is the video:
