Introduction and advice on buying a new SMS
Post Posted: Thu Jul 05, 2012 3:56 am
Hi, Agustin here, long time Sega Genesis gamer, but I´m new to the SMS world. I have of course played SMS games through computer emulation, but now I have the chance to buy a SMS, and it's supposed to be new. As I cannot post links, i will describe the console:
It's a SMS II, PAL N norm, and apparently it was never used. The box also contains a Tec Toy "Controle" (the gamepad), a power adapter, a PAL/NTSC switcher with some portuguese writen on it, and it seems to have some sort of Alex the Kidd game included (Alex the Kidd in Miracle World, also with a Tec Toy logo on it).
I find suspicious that the console does not have the SEGA logo on it.
Unfortunately, I´m not able to travel and see it with my own eyes, but looks like the real deal. What's your opinion guys?
Also, is u$s 160 for it ok if it is actually new?
Is the Master Everdrive compatible with a PAL N SMS?

Thanks!

(I apologize if this is the wrong place to discuss this)

TecToy officially sold Sega systems in Brazil for quite a while.

Is this the game for Alex Kidd?

What you describe is either the white/blue box of the SMS III by TecToy:

If so, its a legit release, not a bootleg. As far as price goes, I couldn't say. TecToy items seem to have more of a premium (inflated price) on price outside of Brazil.

It's the SMS II, BR seen exactly 2 spots above the one you said! The one that says it's the same as the 3D, but with an extra "II"...
So, seems to be legit, and that would explain the missing SEGA logo on the console...

Thanks for the info!

I was unaware TecToy omitted the SEGA logo from some of their products. That's interesting.

It looks like the logo is still on the box it comes in, but I can't tell by the pictures of the hardware. I'd imagine it would be on the cart box too.
