Fitting 50/60Hz switch to my SMS 1
Post Posted: Mon Feb 18, 2008 12:50 am
Hey All,

Now for the last switch in my system. The 3rd instalment of Jackos n00b hacking sessions.

I want to fit a 50/60Hz switch to my SMS 1, now I know SMS 2 and 1 are different but my SMS 1 has some sms 2 chips in it.

Do I just have to lift pin 57 of the vdp and connect it to ground? or I read somewhere that there are jumpers on a sms 1 board, but my board seems to be lacking those jumpers.

HERE is some pics of my SMS for reference, I look forward to hearing from you all.

PS Maxim I tried searching, but the search is kinda crapy :)

Thanks

The mod works and I get 60Hz in colour, but I snapped the pin when soldering so I shall render the mod useless :P

As dodgy as this sounds can you scrap or chip or whatever at the IC to get a little "silver" back at least something to solder to? Not sure if it will work though.

I know what you mean though I modded my SMS2 on the weekend and noticed how flimsy it was. As soon as I was done I secured it with hot glue, it don't look pretty but it is secure.

It's the one called "JP2"!

But I guess it's too late now :)

Thanks Killer Bean,

DJBass fixed my SMS, he sent it back to my house via courier but I wasnt home when they came so I got the courier card here... I just need to ring them up so I can organise for them to deliver it to my house...

I have had a few (too much) to drink so I am going to sign off before I do something stupid, hehe ;)
