vgm to mp3

i have found easiest way how to make vgm to mp3.
you need:

winamp
nullsoft disk writer plugin or chin yu´s plugin(nullsoft is better)
a location where you store your files

1. open preferences tab in winamp(ctrl+p).
double click nullsoft disk writer plugin
when nullsoft disk writer plugin options come select directory
where to store files.click close.

2.load a vgm file into winamp(check if it is not on repeat or it will rewrite file).
it finish the file within seconds.

3.set recent plugin back so thst you can listen music not record it.

4.go to your location what you have set and there you have it!

it´s easy as one-two-three!

p.s. that works for ewery kind of files. ewen mp3 itself.

And the transcoder plugin is easier, and you didn't explain how to make MP3s (hint: you either need a dodgy MP3 ACM codec installed, or you need to explain WAV->MP3 while mentioning the need for lots of disk space). And this has all been explained several times already, your description being no more verbose/detailed/helpful than any of the previous ones.

Well done!

When I convert my vgz's their tempo ends up being slightly too fast :/. Any ideas?

Faster than when played normally? That seems odd. Faster than played on your SMS on the TV? More likely, if you come from a PAL region. Choose 50Hz playback in the in_vgm options to adjust things, although you'll need to check which games adjust properly and which were written to play back at the right speed on both 60Hz and 50Hz systems.

I'm wondering why people are converting VGMs to MP3 - you'll always end up with bigger files, with worse quality. The only excuse I can think of is for playback on MP3 players, is there any other reason?

Well yeah, my reason is that I can't play the VGM in the first place (AND I'd love to have them in my mp3 player :P). All plugins I've found for foobar, that I use, haven't worked (or I just don't know how to make them work other than placing them in the components folder). So I don't know if the original .vgz's are also too fast. I got them from project2612.org . Kid Chameleon.

I'm very new at this, so I've no idea what you're talking about really. I've just looked all over for the Kid Chameleon music and I finally found something :].

foo_gep works OK for me, although it doesn't offer 50/60Hz rate lerping (to give you authentic 18% slower PAL music).

I also have gep but it won't work. It don't recognize my vgz files. I have foobar 0.9.
Anyway, I managed to find some options in winamp to encode my mp3s at the correct speed. I'm pretty damn happy ^^. Thx for the help!
