Any SMS cart publisher?
Post Posted: Sun Jul 30, 2017 5:23 pm
Hello,

Me and Lukasz Kur are making a game for NES and we're interested in porting it to Sega Master System as well.

There are some publishers to NES games today, so essencially we'll send the final ROM to one of them and they'll take care of making carts and selling them.

I wonder if there's any company doing the same these days to Master System (I've searched but found nothing so far!)... Any help is welcome!

Thank you very much!

I don't know of any. For my ColecoVision games, I self-published (and sold the necessary hardware to self-publish also to other ColecoVision gmae authors - see http://www.colecovision.eu/ColecoVision/development/Homebrew%20kit.shtml).

If I ever complete any of my SMS game projects, I'd do the same (I already started developemnt of the hardware and have a working prototype - see http://www.smspower.org/forums/15915-CartridgeCaseIdea).

Thanks for your reply PkK!

It's sad that no one work today as a publisher for SMS. I'm afraid we'll have to cancel the project then - since it only makes sense to us if we can put the game on a cart. Thanks again!

We want to move to that in 1985Alternativo. We're currently looking to make a mould for the cartridge shells...

Excellent news!! I'll send you a PM.
We just released the demo of our NES game ("Lucky Penguin"):

But while finishing NES version we're already making tests of a port on Master System.
If we find a way to make a cart then we'll keep it!

There's surely way to publish SMS games (for instance reusing shells!) but AFAIK a publisher is still lacking :(
