Gamekult.com (french gaming site) has an interview with people from Arc System Works, including Minoru Kidooka who worked at Sega in the early days.
http://blog.gamekult.com/blog/boulapoire/189980/an-afternoon-at-arc-system-works... Minoru Kidooka mention working on the hardware design for Sega since the SG-1000 and until 1987 when he left Sega to found Arc System Works (so that would include the Sega Mark III). Then he mention: "I think our first published releases [as Arc System Works] were Double Dragon on the Master System and Final Lap on the Famicom". Which AFAIK is new information since Double Dragon doesn't have credits. CRV or other, would you have any question to ask him? |

Wrote a blog post about it.
I'd want to know more game titles, and does he know anything about ELS or Nova (just to make sure)? |

If you have a clear list of question i can try to forward.
Note that he is on Facebook if you google his name so you could possibly message him there. |

"Did you have anything to do with/do you know anything about ELS or Nova?" "Did Arc do Rolling Thunder for the Famicom?" "Did Arc do games for Falcom in the 16-bit era?" There's other games I'd want to know if Arc did (like Mappy Kids), but I doubt he'd want to get into anything specific. That's about it. |

I have a soft spot for Arc's earlier games (FC, PCE...) because of their nice graphics and the fact that they commonly employed Katsuhiro Hayashi as a musician.
I've done a little write-up about some of their PCE-CD productions here: http://www.chrismcovell.com/gamesillust.html Road Spirits has a hidden staff roll which might help add to the staff list in '91 or so: Programmer ARC Kazuyuki Oikawa Programmer ARC Minoru Kidooka Programmer ARC Makoto Shiozumi Programmer ARC Noriyuki Tabata Designer ARC Masayo Oikawa Designer ARC Masato Kohata Designer ARC Keiko Kayajima Designer ARC Nobuyuki Ohara Sound Freelance Katsuhiro Hayashi Sound ARC Junya Kozakai Ending CG ARC Atsuko Iwanaga Assistance ARC Akira Kamei Assistance ARC Hiroshi Ogata Planner Pack-in Video Takato Uchimura Director ARC Kingo Hiraku |

Thanks for that.
I assume this Kazuyuki Oikawa is the same one that runs Aspect. This game was released the same month Aspect was started. |

Hey there. I could not find Minoru on Facebook. Could you ask him something for me? I was just curious who composed the music for Final Lap for the Famicom? I asked Katsuhiro Hayashi (who composed the sequel for the PC Engine) and he told me it sounds like it could have been Junya Kozakai or Atsuko Iwanaga. I found Atsuko on Facebook but I cannot get a reply from her. | |
