Solomon/Ys/Phantasy Star - possible as custom FM carts?

Hi all, I did some poking around the site before I made a topic on this and I could not find an answer.
Has anyone here successfully made custom carts with Phantasy Star, Ys, or Solomon's Key on actual PCBs with FM sound? A friend who helps me with customs blew a board a year or so ago trying to make me a cart with a patched English Ys FM rom, and the only thread I can find anyone asking is an old one from 2013, and he didn't find a solution. I wanted to do the same with Solomon's Key and a patched Phantasy Star, but was hoping someone here may have been successful before blowing another PCB thanks |

It's not possible. There's no audio in/out pins on the cartridge slot.
Either the Master System will have to be modified, or the use of a Mega Drive Power Base Converter with a YM2413 inbuilt will be needed. Or a proper Japanese Mark III w/FM. I'd recommend the PBC with inbuilt YM2413 myself. An example here. You wouldn't be the only guy to be frustrated by the lack of audio in/out pins on the Master System, trust me! |

I actually have an FM moded system, so that part isn't a problem. But you can't make a custom FM cart board at all? Even with a donor cart that is FM? |

FM it's not related to the cartridge PCB in any case. | |

Those don't exist. Whether a game has FM support or not is determined by its code, not by the cartridge board. |
