Legend of Illusion (Game Gear) Level Select
Post Posted: Mon Jun 01, 2009 7:52 am
Hey, folks. I found an inaccessible level select for Legend of Illusion:

It can be accessed at any time by setting C300 in RAM to 03. The actual jump to this level select is right at the title screen, I suppose (it checks for 1+2+Start) but it has been NOPed out. So, I guess it has been disabled in the final version. :-(

If you set C300 to 03 right at the point where the level select is NOPed out, you can change the Round by holding 2+U/D, and change the Stage by holding 1+U/D. If you set C300 to 03 at any other time, you can change the round&stage, but their numbers don't get updated on-screen.

It might be nice to make a Meka patch to "un-nop" it. It's interesting that it was easier to nop it out than to recompile. Maybe it's too buggy?

If I was a developper about to ship an assembly programmed game after it's been QA-ed, I would rather play it safe and comment the line and replace with the same amount of nop.

I love hearing about hidden, inaccessible cheats like this that get uncovered. Great job!
