UK DS games work on Aus DS's right? (i know US ones do.. seems the case with most hand helds) I can buy you guys Soul Bubbles who can't get it and Air Mail it out to you (takes about a week). You can pay me via Paypal. Here.. I can get it for £25 on Play.com http://www.play.com/Games/DS/4-/5376491/-/Product.html?searchstring=soul+bubbles&searchsource=0 Post might be around £3 - £4 ish depending on the service and abit extra if you want it signed for or whatever. Plus a small % to cover paypal charge (Just whatever it costs me) So if it comes to £30 total thats about 63.12 AUD. Let me know if your interested. I really don't mind, it isnt much trouble. |

Hey Everyone,
Today marked the official release date for the game in Australia. I ordered myself a copy last week from Game Traders and at about 2.30pm I received a phone call to say the product has arrived. I will be going tomorrow to pick the game up! Also I don't think EB Games will be stocking the product, which means Game probably isn't either. JB HiFi seem to have it on their online store, but its still out of stock (I have mentioned this before), but I believe they should stock it soonish. Well so ends a saga for me, ill probably take a big cheesy pic of myself with the game and post it here for all to enjoy :P |

Wow,
Bock, been playing the game for a couple of hours now. And I must say its simply beautiful. The visuals are really nice and the way the bubbles react to movement is really cool. Well Done!!!! Also kudos to Maxim for appearing in the manual :P |

Hey, I'm in the in-game credits too. Don't forget to blow on them...

Yes Maxim, I did notice that too.. Sorry I forgot to mention that... Wow blowing on the credits, how cool is that! |

I thought I would treat myself and bought the game with my first pay cheque from my new job. Got it from Woolworths for £19.97, thats the cheapest I've seen it anywhere, I think I shall reserve playing it for the weekend :-)
|

Thanks for the kind comments and purchase guys :-)
(Quite worrying that the game is already 20 pounds, thought) |
|
|

I wouldnt worry, I offten find random bargains in 'Woolworths' that don't reflect anything thats going on in the real world. It's an ancient chain of shops that just trunddles on for ever.. |

It became Ni****do DS user today.
It wishes that it be at the chance that Soul Bubbles plays. |

I've been randomly popping into game stores on the off chance I might see a copy on the shelves.
I was wondering around a local shopping centre and had some time to kill so I went into Toys R Us and lo and behold I finally spotted a copy. |

Wow, it's expensive-looking.

Dang, I wish I was still working at TRU here in Canada, I could sneak a peek into the computer system to find a Can. release date. Should ask my friend there really.
|
Posted: Sun Sep 28, 2008 6:18 pm |
Amazon says November 24 for Canada and December 3 for US.
|

$56.99 AUD = £25.91 and considerably less than the other aussie prices quoted a page or two ago. |

Good find DJBass, makes me want to go into my Toys R Us in the mall and have a look. Even though I own a copy I am sure DMEnduro could do with a copy :P I dunno if he has Toys R Us where he lives.

There is, and I check every time I'm around. TRU have good bargains on games sometimes.

Sorry to bump an oldish thread but recently invested in a DS and got Soul Bubbles to boot.
It is indeed a very nice game. Not that I should be surprised given its Omar's work but I find it a so much more polished game than those coming from some of the bigger companies. I love the credits too, your team obviously had as much fun as possible during dev. Oh.. I was also surprised by the surround sound option, works surprisingly well with the crappy speakers the DS has. |

Soul Bubbles is in the running for an industry award - voted for by game developers, so it's already a big deal to even get nominated. Congratulations! |
|
|
Posted: Wed Feb 18, 2009 4:05 am |
Yeah that's quite pleasing!
Actually it's also nominated for BAFTA in handheld category: http://www.bafta.org/ http://www.bafta.org/awards/video-games/nominations,664,BA.html BAFTA seems rather serious in UK, is it ? |
|
|
Posted: Wed Feb 18, 2009 9:43 am |
BAFTA is kind of like AMPAS in the US (the guys who do the Oscars) - the BAFTA film awards (about 10 days ago) are considered to be a significant Oscar indicator. They also do TV (British Academy of Film and Television Arts); games are a fairly recent addition (1998). So yes, it's about as serious as you can get; but the GDC awards are more peer-controlled than the opaque voting of the BAFTAs (you don't even know who those people are).
Are you going to be attending any ceremonies? |
|
|
Posted: Wed Feb 18, 2009 11:21 am |
Is there any way for us to vote? I can set up a whole lot of proxies if you want :p
|
Posted: Wed Feb 18, 2009 1:08 pm |
I won't be attending either of them. I wish I could go to GDC but its super expensive and I'm too recent in my company to be sent there. Anyway we have exactly zero change of winning the GDC one considering the other games in the listing. BAFTA I don't even think it's open, or at least we weren't offered to go.
Tom: No (and no - they should be fair awards and that's probably exactly why they are not cheapened-internet voting awards). |
|
|
Posted: Wed Feb 18, 2009 1:46 pm |
One of the BAFTA awards is publicly voted (due to sponsorship, mainly), but the Soul Bubbles is not in the shortlist for that (Professor Layton and the Curios Village is the only DS game).
I'd expect you to at least get a ticket to the BAFTA ceremony since you're named on the page. It's even televised (I think; previous years were on E4 so that's not necessarily a good thing). |

thats pretty huge, congrats for being nominated. A sticker should be added to the game box to advise of the nomination even if you don't win.
|
Posted: Thu Feb 19, 2009 4:14 am |
I don't think there's even game boxes on shelves anymore, or maybe in bargain bins :) |
|
|
Posted: Tue Feb 24, 2009 3:24 pm |
Actually I retract that: I just got a letter from them in the mail saying that I was invited to the ceremony. I can't go however :( |

Give me your ticket and I'll wear a Bock mask... :)

We finished the Japanese version, it is called Awatama.
The site went up today: http://www.interchannel.co.jp/ds/awatama/ How incredible that such small publisher gives us a website and a boxart magnitude better that Eidos did ? Bitter sweet. Wish we could go back in time. |

This version looks fantastic. Could you post some scan of the manual? I got the game some months ago, and is some of the best I played in DS, really pleassing to play. Congrats! Never thought I could meet a programmer here :P.

OK, so I got S rank on every level except the last one. I could not figure out how to get the stuff I needed to the 'other' side of the level. Any tips?
|
Posted: Sun Jul 05, 2009 1:14 pm |
The last level's a bit of a killer... watch out for remote stuff appearing on the map, and try to move water/gas by spilling it and then drawing a new bubble around it.
|
Posted: Mon Jul 06, 2009 2:47 am |
I'm also having trouble with that level. With the third calabash, I can get a spirit into the tiny little gap in the wall, but I can't get him out. Is there some sort of trick to it?
|
Posted: Mon Jul 06, 2009 3:31 am |
A small bubble with a single spirit should get in/out if you blow.
|
Posted: Wed Jul 08, 2009 3:27 am |
There's a gap? You're doing better than I am :/
Although I did find a gap where I suppose there shouldn't be one. |
|
|
Posted: Wed Jul 08, 2009 7:56 am |
That's the gap. I consider it somewhat evil, personally. |
|
|
Posted: Wed Jul 08, 2009 8:53 am |
I do not think we are talking about the same gap. This one is against a left wall and going through it lets you get right outside the level.
|
Posted: Wed Jul 08, 2009 9:01 am |
I haven't gotten around to finishing it yet, I'm about half way. Problem is I'm a perfectionist and some of the later levels do get a bit tedius.
I am curious though.. why the 'S' rating? Seems strange it should be higher than 'A'. |
|
|
Posted: Wed Jul 08, 2009 10:07 am |
Yes, that's not the one :) but the third calabash gap can't be much bigger. |
