Little - Endian - Development

There are two standard ways to store data larger than 8 bits: either to store it so the most significant bytes come first, or so they come last:

Both methods have advantages and disadvantages.

The Z80 is a little-endian CPU. That means that:

when you put a value in register pair hl, the most significant byte is in h and the least significant in l (think: high, low)
when you write that register pair to RAM, the low byte is stored before the high byte
when inspecting RAM, or accessing bytes within larger variables, you must remember this to avoid becoming totally confused
