VGM archive renewal

I've had enough of people complaining and me never having time to deal with this stuff. So I'm making the VGM archive a community effort.

I have reorganised the VGM archive. Every pack I have is now published there, and every pack I receive will be added ASAP, but to a section marked as "unreviewed". I've also moved every existing pack in to the same section.

I'll choose a pack or two to be under review at any one time, and each will be given a "sticky" thread in this forum. It will then be the task of everyone who cares about making the VGM archive better to download it, listen, and then post in there, giving improvements, corrections, criticisms, and (if we're lucky) statements like "I can't find anything wrong with it". When I feel enough has been done, I'll move it to the "approved" section; if the thread dies with no resolution, it'll stay "unreviewed" until next time, and I'll move on to something else.

Over time, we can learn from each other's criticisms to understand what needs to be checked.

If anyone has a burning desire to discuss correctins to a game that's not one of the ones I selected, they can just post and I'll sticky it, within reason. Democracy, see?

A lot of the work that really needs to be done is in Japanese translation. Hopefully there are a few Japanese-literate VGM fans, even if they just spend 30 minutes per week halping us out it'll be a massive help; even if it's just to build a library of translations for common terms like "game over".

I'll post some of these reviewing threads in a moment.

Regarding the files in the archive: some games have multiple packs there, because I don't have the time to figure out the exact differences and which is most recent. (It took me about 6 hours just to add them, this is hard work!) Also, some of the packs that have been submitted are probably missing. Pack authors, please check your packs are there and are the right version.

Wow! Thanks Maxim. I am glad that you decided to reorganize VGM submissions in this way. Now just to clarify, the Sonic Chaos pack that is the most up-to-date is the one called Sonic_Chaos.zip. (Not any of the ones called "update".) The others can/should be deleted.

Thanks for making the submission process easier for all of us. (Yourself included.)

It seems that my update of Tails Adventure is an older version, the last one I have submitted an update which has the proper name and Japanese tags (and was 24 tracks). I would happily resend if it is lost in post.

Good idea anyway which givens me a little fixing here and there.

Please re-send, I had a hard time making sense of all the mess of files I have on several computers, in several folders, and across several email accounts.

Well, I too think it's a great idea ^_^

I'll be helping at least with my own packs and my (little) knowledge... XD

And I have many updates to send (agaaaain), do I send them to Bock or to you, Maxim?

(just sent Forgotten Worlds pack to Bock some days ago...)

Send them to me - anything sent to Bock ends up with me anyway.

My Dynamite Headdy pack is listed as "Dynamite Duke". ;)

I guess I should probably finish off those other four packs I've got sitting around ready for tagging.
