Great finds. How does it work, was all the text OCR-ized and tagged by Google? I imagine we'd want to look for articles related to SF-7000, Master System, etc.

Hmm, I'd used the magazine scans archive before but this seems better. It seems to be OCR, Google's pretty good at that. A lot of the articles cost money to view, newspaper companies are pretty good at that :(

Yes, they're OCRed by Google, it's quite good, but not perfect. For example searching for "ozisoft" fails to find the article about Ozisoft I posted.
You can also just browse the newspaper collection here; http://news.google.com/newspapers I couldn't find any results for SF-7000, but it seems to be an ongoing project, so it may show up in the future. And yes, a lot are pay per view, especially the US and Canadian ones. A lot of articles about Irwin, the Canadian distributors that I wanted to read, but were behind a paywall. You can choose to only search for free ones in "Advanced Archive Search", but you can often get enough info from the headline and search summary to make searching for the same story in a free newspaper easier. |

Necrobump. Took an account for an old newspaper archive site. Hope these are new.
There are far, FAR more. I could add them if you want. |

I’d like to see more, yes!
I like the mention of 1048K of memory. I guess that’s 1024Kbits on a Mega Cartridge plus another 24KBytes of system memory and video memory? But the Macy’s ad says there’s 1048K on the cartridge (nope) and 128K in the system (which is the amount of video memory in kilobits). So maybe 1048K is 1Mbit = 1048576 bytes = 1048 thousand bits, rounded down? But then the system would have 131K of video memory and 197K of total memory rounded to the nearest 1000 bits… I guess the point is it’s all marketing nonsense. |

Notice the grey or white d-pad, which I believe we've seen in another color ad.

Haha, I think so. Here's more! Interesting info regarding the AI computer, drawing tablet, 'mega phaser' and an unreleased game/port by Activision. |

Yeah, they probably just truncated the 1,048,576 bits figure instead of the proper abbreviation of 1,024 kbits. (though using bits was always a way of inflating the numbers for marketing purposes anyways) |

That Hang-On promo shot does make me wonder if Sega was just a little inspired by the NES Deluxe Set boxart. :D
