SMS music through a guitar pedal
Post Posted: Sat Oct 07, 2023 12:52 am
I've been having a play around with playing SMS music using an ATMega8 + sn76489.

I had a go at feeding the output through a guitar pedal with some distortion and reverb and thought it sounded pretty neat :3

Looks like you are having fun! :)
Are those led lights the 4 sound channels? Did you apply a different effect on each channel?

Yes, the four LEDs are used to represent the four sound channels.

Volume on the sn76489 is actually an attenuation, so smaller numbers represent louder sounds. The range is from 15 (silent) to 0 (full volume). For each channel, the LED is configured to light up when the volume register has a value of 8 or below.
