Does the "Eliminator" really work?

Can it do further damage to a Game Gear?

For those who don't know., the Eliminator is an accessory to solve common problems in a Game Gear such as power flashes, blank screens and scrambled pictures (see this image)

It's a cleaning cartridge. Google "Naki Eliminator" to find images, they exist for many cartridge systems.

Yes, it will help in cases where the cartridge connector is making poor contact. On a Game Gear with a BIOS, this will usually manifest as the game not starting, whereas on one without, you might get glitches and garbage on the screen. If re-plugging the cartridge helps, the cleaning kit might help. If it's your cartridges that are dirty/corroded then you need to clean them. If you have bent contacts, it's not going to help at all.

If it's particularly badly designed, it might damage your Game Gear (e.g. bending pins, dripping liquid inside).

Beware of buying the cartridge cleaners because I noticed the felt material disintegrates after sitting around for a decade and might get lodged in the card-edge connector making it worse.
