There's a bunch of these going on quicksales.com.au for $100AU each. http://www.quicksales.com.au/ad/very-rare-1983-sega-yeno-sc3000-h-brand-new-in-b...

I'm thinking about getting one - is it worth it?

For some reason there has been lots of stock of French SC-3000 in Australia. I got two at some point they were in immaculate condition (though shipping cost back to France was quite high).

Okay, so from what I can gather, these things output a SECAM RGB signal through a SCART cable. It's easy enough to get a cheap adaptor to go from SCART to composite or S-Video, but does anyone know if it will display okay on an Australian TV? The guy whose selling it says that most newer TVs will display PAL, NTSC and SECAM anyway... but I thought they would only display PAL and NTSC. I can't remember where I read it, but I think I saw somewhere it would come out in black and white...

RGB doesn't have any encoding, PAL and SECAM are no different. The composite will lack colour if you use it.

I don't think they're worth $100. A store near me was selling them for $60 but sold out before I had a chance to grab one. I spoke to a few guys who landed one and they can't get a proper display (wrong colours displayed) from it on their TV's. It doesn't output an RGB signal at all, the included SCART cable outputs a composite SECAM signal.

I ended up getting a SEGA branded one for $30 on eBay.
