Game credits
Posted: Mon Mar 21, 2005 3:25 pm Last edited by Maxim on Sat Jan 23, 2010 10:11 pm; edited 7 times in total |
Edit: I've moved this to the Website forum, and additions here will directly contribute to the new site. Original post is below.
----------------------- Here's a little (huge) project for the gameplayers as well as the emulator players and everyone else, and it's something that will help contribute to the museum, although I wouldn't want anyone to think this is directly related to current museum developments. Maybe it'd go better in the Website forum, but I figured it'd get more attention here. Anyway, as you probably guessed from the title, this is a place to post the complete credits from games. The best way to do it: screengrabs, ideally carefully joined in some clever way, with accompanying text. You can attach images to your posts, and the text can be posted plainly. Chris Covell's RomSearcher is good for getting credit text but of course you don't get the accompanying images, so formatting must usually be guessed. VGMuseum has similar aims for its game endings, although they are more concerned with the ending sequence/story which you may choose not to include here to avoid spoiling the enjoyment of others when they complete the game. Nevertheless, if you want to avoid spoilers, avoid viewing ending images. I'm not really interested in the ending text for the purposes of this thread - it's all about the people and companies behind the games. If you're lazy, Zophar.net's Meka savestate archive will allow you to go straight to the ending. Just pretend you played the games properly, and nobody will know you cheated. When we get it into the museum we can cross-reference, and provide more information on the people. At the very least, MobyGames provides information on people, and our information can potentially help them too. A few simple rules: 1. Images as attachments. 2. Game names as topic titles. 3. Do your best to make text capitalised properly - most games have CAPITALISED text, but that's not nice to read. 4. Complete credits, but no ending story (in the posted text, at least). Enough of this rambling. I'll post a few in a minute as examples. |

I remember you showing that before. Here's a Zophar cheat-o-ending:
Programmed by Nexa, a division of Sphere Musician - Randy Roseberry Programmers - Kevin Seghetti, Jinda Pan Producers - John Sauer, John Emerson Artists - Jody Sather, George Kanalias Perhaps the presence of "alias" in that last one is because of shame. Notice Kevin Seghetti mentions that he also worked on Monopoly and Rampart on SMS. Isn't Google great? |

Nexa, eh? The same company that gave us F-16 Fighting Falcon? | |

Interesting... Kevin Seghetti also worked on SMS Monopoly, but Alf is definitely the crappiest thing on his list of credits.
I guess collision detection isn't his specialty. |

Are you wondering why you cannot be tails on Sonic 2? It is because the idea of the game, is to be Sonic. And to rescue tails!! |

Rules!

I'll just post a reminder of what I wrote originally. This thread is for game credits, not game endings. These are the rules:
1. Images as attachments. 2. Game names as topic titles. 3. Do your best to make text capitalised properly - most games have CAPITALISED text, but that's not nice to read. 4. Complete credits, but no ending story (in the posted text, at least). The idea is not to show game endings, it is to have images and searchable text containing the names/nicknames of the people who made the games. I edited Tomasso's posts with his permission; I'll do the same to Balkry's if he doesn't do it himself in the next few days. If you want to post game endings, I suggest you visit VGMuseum where they are specifically seeking them. |

However, for the sake of documentation and avoiding repeated work, it may be worth documenting games where the ending sequence has no known credit. |

Yes, absolutely. Notice that my second example was like that. | |

I hope it's that you really want for the game credits.
But, are you not really interesting in a games ending section for the sms power, I think it could be a cool project ... |
|
|
Posted: Sun Mar 27, 2005 1:36 pm |
It's OK to post endings, so long as you (1) do not post the ending story text and (2) only post a link to the images (perhaps with a small thumbnail). This avoids spoiling it for others.
I know, you might expect that at the end of Alien 3, Ripley defeats the aliens and escapes, but you must still avoid spoiling it. I remember people being annoyed to be told that the ship sinks in Titanic. |

Here's the Highscore table from Opa-Opa
Anyone recognise any of the credits? By the way, the arcade Opa-Opa has different mazes and better graphics. I think they must have ported the SMS games to the system E hardware and made upgrades along the way. Plus Fantasy Zone II has a 1988 copyright, where as the SMS one is '87. |

I've (manually) imported a bunch of credits from MobyGames, and tagged all such pages with the tag
http://wip2.smspower.org/Tags/CreditsLackingScreenshots to make them easier to find. Then all you need to do is find the credits, make screengrabs and correct the credits to match what shows in-game. |
