Excellent! So with AoE time in mind, the deadline is actually tomorrow at 13:00 CET (14:00 CEST if you've bought into the daylight savings scam). I should be able to present something resembling music by then!

Heh, that's pushing it but I guess that's what I intended. We'll still start posting stuff tonight (European time).
|

I'm so ready for celebrating tonight! ... and continue tomorrow! (Copenhagen time) :)

Last entries are not "censored" (no *** in names)
;) |

Keep looking... | |

Looks like I might have to send in my song Monday morning (CET), but I'll try to do it tonight in a few hours.

Maxim, if you want some screenshots for my compo I have many.
(if it can help) |

Yes please! | |

Coding entries are now up and unlocked, enjoy!!!!

Hacks are now all available. Please make sure to apply them to Alex Kidd in Miracle World V1 (or v1.1 if your ROMs have funny names).

Music competition entries will be posted tomorrow, partly because I know we have some late entrants, partly because it's now 1am and partly because my battery is running out :(
|

Thanks, Maxim :) |

Just posted our entry, hope it'll make it :x
Not finished at all, but getting more done without posting it would be worse than not posting anything at all, I guess. I'll certainly send one or two updates tonight or tomorrow, I can't leave it as it is ! |

I just submitted my hack I've been scrambling to whip together over the last two weeks. Unsurprisingly, it's of Tails Adventures. Someone's gotta do it, I guess...
Looking at the discussion, I probably should have mentioned I was thinking of doing a hack earlier, but I really hate to talk up projects I'm not sure I'll finish. Sorry if it's an inconvenience. |

Late entries, and music entries, should appear later today.
|
Posted: Mon Mar 28, 2016 8:38 am |
Supper: posted your hack now! Will work on Music entries now.
*EDIT* I have never posted music entries before so this may take a while until I figure out everything! |

Just sent a "last" tiny update ;)
|
Posted: Mon Mar 28, 2016 10:03 am |
Ichigobankai: just replied to you. If you want to update you can now amend the Homebrew page yourself. Please post a note in the corresponding forum thread also!

Just finished reviewing and voting on music entries.
Hacks and coding entries will be tested on real hardware, so it will take a while longer. :) |

I wonder why na_th_an didn't enter anything to the coding competition... I also can't get in touch with him through PM... is everything alright I hope?
|
Posted: Tue Mar 29, 2016 7:12 pm |
In some of the entry threads the current votes are not hidden if you open the thread while not logged in to the forum. I'm sure that's not supposed to be that way?
|
Posted: Tue Mar 29, 2016 8:06 pm |
Just went thru all entries to double-check settings, and fixed some "hidden vote settings" for: Schlange CV, Rapière, Walk down the Wharf, Tails Kicks Ass and Music. |

You may have forgotten the planned cover art competition, I haven't entirely forgotten it and I'll try to post a template cover soon. Actually skilled artists may wish to start already, as what I will do is fairly simplistic... (The font is here, by the way.)

I'm really impressed by the quality of the coding entries. Some games could even go all the way to a proper release. I would really like to see them finished in some form.
|
Posted: Tue Apr 05, 2016 6:57 pm |
Considering that late updates are allowed would it also be an option to allow late entrants?
Any thoughts on that? Any concerns? |
|
|
Posted: Tue Apr 05, 2016 7:59 pm |
Personally even if I would love to see more entries, I think that to allow new entries now would distort the whole idea behind the point of having an 'SMSPower! day'...
|
Posted: Tue Apr 05, 2016 11:13 pm |
Yeah, we have to have some rules :) Maybe save it for something else, maybe even for next year - imagine how polished it'll be! Or just release it after voting ends if you want to avoid the confusion. Or release it now, it's your choice.

Maxim, how can I update/add version of my rom in my hombrew page ?
http://www.smspower.org/Homebrew/CIMMERiAN-SMS |
|
|
Posted: Wed Apr 06, 2016 9:10 am |
We have to manually grant you rights to do that, done now. Edit the version number in the page and then click the download link to get to the upload page.
|
Posted: Wed Apr 06, 2016 10:07 am |
Ok, change the version, drop the zip and add a little summary (as requested to save (just put "update") ).
but there is "???" in the rom size place, the download is not working properly (page/message : You are not authorized to access this page.) Maybe need to be approved ? |
|
|
Posted: Wed Apr 06, 2016 11:17 am |
Hmm, you should have access to upload the file. (The dropped version probably failed.) I'll look at it later, for now just post it in the voting thread.
|
Posted: Thu Apr 07, 2016 6:00 pm |
Hi Maxim, I've made some other tests and always get the same result (??? and no access to the file / attach)
|
Posted: Thu Apr 07, 2016 9:36 pm |
I've uploaded it myself for now (actually did this before I saw this thread), but yeah we should investigate that.
|
Posted: Thu Apr 07, 2016 9:37 pm |
Thanks ;) | |
|
Posted: Fri Apr 08, 2016 1:09 pm |
When will the voting end? Any plan?
|
Posted: Fri Apr 08, 2016 4:00 pm |
I believe the voting time for our entry is too long, compared to the other entries.
|
Posted: Fri Apr 08, 2016 6:02 pm |
I've gone through and bulk-fixed the entries to end voting in another few weeks. Usually we have two weeks of voting but I am extending it a bit this time because we have some much longer entries this year (proper games!) and also because I haven't tried the entries yet.
|
Posted: Sat Apr 09, 2016 2:12 am |
I like the longer voting period, because there are a few entries that I would like to see finished up a bit more before I vote on them.
|
Posted: Fri Apr 15, 2016 11:25 am |
Anyway I forgot to mention I really love the bunch of homebrew we received this year, and I also love the ROM hacks and I guess we should have ROM hacks category next year too :)
Sorry it's a weird post, but I didn't want to completely forget mentioning that. |

Same here. It's almost as if the competition entries get more impressive by the year. I'm already looking forward to the 20th anniversary. |

Everyones knowledge increases each year,so yeah I'd agree with that comment. |

Is it possible to postpone voting closing for a week ?
|
Posted: Mon Apr 25, 2016 7:22 am |
I haven't had time to play all the entries yet myself, but we have to close voting some time. In lieu of voting, why not leave detailed feedback for the entries? I'm sure the authors would appreciate it much more than just a vote.
I'll collate results later today... after deleting any suspicious voting patterns. |
|
|
Posted: Mon Apr 25, 2016 4:28 pm |
Well, I think votes are less verbose and I missed being able to. |
|
|
Posted: Tue Apr 26, 2016 9:30 pm |
Vote analysis is now complete and results are up:

Congratulations! I absolutely agree it's been an awesome year! :D
edit: I just updated the tags for the homebrew entries. If you're using devkitSMS and/or PSGlib your entry should appear in the lists (follow the links...). If it's not appearing, or if it appears there by mistake, please let me know :) |

Congratulations everybody! It was really fun to work on a game for the competition and get to play/listen to your great submissions. I dearly hope some unfinished games will be completed sooner or later! :)

So i tied with myself in the music comp? Talk about consistency, haha.
Great year guys. My favorite coding entry placed quite low, (Data Storm), which goes to show the quality of the entries. |

Yeah - thanks for another great year, and congrats to the winners and the fellow contestants! I have used the compo feedback to power-up my current project of porting/enhancing Swabby from GG to SMS. So now I'm sitting on my first real sprite engine, and will be back with a development thread to discuss enemy patterns and various weapon upgrades, etc.
