VGM player in Java?
Post Posted: Sat Jan 30, 2016 12:06 am
Hello,

I wanted to know if there is any up to date VGM player in Java?
As you may not know, I'm currently developing a front-end for MAME in Java, and I want to integrate a nice VGM player. I found a Java player that is not limited to VGM, but its VGM core seems to be based on a very old version of the VGM specs, as it doesn't even take Mega Drive sound files.

I cannot link to its web page but it's the GitHub page of GeoffWilson/VGM.

Hey Xinyingho,

Is this project of any help? https://github.com/wothke/vgmplay-0.40.5 This is the player used over at Project 2612.

EDIT: Here's a web demo of said plugin too: http://www.wothke.ch/webvgm/

Maybe we could integrate something like this into our VGM section?

Cheers,
Scott

Java plugins are going to stop existing soon, and some of us have had them disabled for years anyway. JavaScript players are where it's at.

Thanks Jacko for the link. But I don't look for a web player. I'm trying to find a Java player to integrate it into my desktop Java application.

Maxim, I know that Oracle will phase out Java plugins, I seldomly used Java applets anyway :)

Edit: the link I used is indeed a Java applet, but well I thought that I could integrate its core into my desktop application until I found out it doesn't do Mega Drive.
