Rumoured Game Gear releases
Posted: Mon Jun 06, 2005 10:20 pm

I'm trying to put together a definitive release list for US/European game gear games so i know which i still need to get, after going through endless lists around the net there are a few games that pop up now and again that i'm fairly sure don't exist but i just wondered if anyone else could prove otherwise.
Akira Baby Boom Barbie Bart's Nightmare Beethoven Breakthru! David Robinson's Basketball (prototype) Dino Basher Dinosaurs Tale F-15 Strike Eagle 3 Formula 1 Grand Prix 2 Frogger (prototype) Golden Axe Humans Joe Montana Football '94 Lemming 2:the Tribes Maze Syndrome Pac-in-Time Prize Fighter Rampart Road Rash 2 Robin Hood:Prince of Thieves Team Williams GP Trunski We're Back X-Woman Thanks in advance for anyone who can help. |

I've been putting together a list of European releases for Digital Press recently, and have not seen any of those.

Rumoured Game Gear games

I've read the story about frogger when sega did/didn't have the rights to the game and it never got released bar a few prototype carts, and i saw boxart for the barbie game on the buyrite site before it got closed down for being incredibly useless, maybe this also was pre-release boxart for a game that never made it.
But other than that i'm gonna dismiss the rest unless someone else can come up with new info. |

X-Woman was at E3 1996 and I think I might have seen the Game Gear version in an ad for Breakthru!, though I might just be imagining things.

Exists as prototypes:
- David Robinson's Basketball (I own it) - Frogger (we have a dump on this site) - Pac-in-Time (same thing) Haven't heard of any other. I'd be interested in a definitive US and European release lists. Been planning to do one since a while, but honnestly I'm lacking too much on this area. For many games I can't say weither they were released in US or Europe and vice versa. If you can submit the data, we can work out a SMS Power list and you'll get credits for it. |

http://www.videogamecritic.net/ggal.htm would answer your question about good old Golden Axe.
Brynaldo, do you know if you can get Bailey for the game gear or was it only a ZX spectrum thing? |

On the same list: Street Racer (already mentioned above) Pinocchio (released on Mega Drive, the 32X version never hit the shelves) Another list, taken from Mega Force 54 - November-December 1996: Tintin 2 (AKA Tintin et le Temple du soleil / Prisoners of the Sun) Still on the list: Street Racer Spirou |

Thanks for posting those. I've been negotiating access to a stash of prototypes from French magazines for almost 15 years now and it look like it may happen this or next year, finger crossed there is something there.

Thanks for the translation! That was from Weekly Famitsu #416 maybe it was previewed in an earlier issue, but the next one back I have is #382 which doesn't list it, so quite a gap to narrow it down.
