It is a patch to turn GG Shinobi into a SMS rom.

Dodgy translation:

昔作ったものですがもったいないのでアップさせてもらいました
~I made this a long time ago, it's not great but I thought I'd upload it

スタートキーは2コントローラの下キーで代用します
~The start button is replaced by "Down" on controller 2.

本サイトの技術資料を活用させてもらいました。またMEKAのデバッグ機能がとても役に立ちました。ありがとうございました。
~I learn a lot from the knowledge/documentation on this site. I also used the MEKA debugging feature which were helpful. Thank you.

Thanks, Bock :)

I guess this patch is based on the adaptation I started to work on about 1,5 year ago (I just changed GG port $00 to SMS port $dc, explaining why the GG START button is mapped with the SMS joypad #2 UP button^^) that I gave to a few people who asked it to me.

In that case he (i suppose るなしず is not his name ?) should have credited me for the work I made, at least :(

Anyway, I didn't try the IPS patch, I hope he improved things (I still had a huge work to do on the adaptation, but never found the time to do it, of course ;) )...

Where was your patch?
His .ips is rather big, it looks like it has a fair amount of change and not just a button remap.

Sorry, it's very hard for me to write in english: I meant that I simply changed the in a,($00) to in a,($dc) to test the START button as port $00,bit #7 is the GG START button and port $dc,bit #7 is the SMS joypad #2 UP button, which let me think that his patch was based on my work, but I did a lot more on the adaptation (nougat sent a vid on sega8bits : http://shinobiman.proboards.com/thread/9006/gg-shinobi-sms?page=1) !

I attached the ROM I made to this post :)
gg_shinobi_WIP.zip (177.85 KB)

Well that's evident that the easiest way to replace the start button is to use the second controller, isn't it?

It's not the same conversion. The color palette is adapted differently, with more intense tones.

Not bad, but I personally prefer vingazole's effort.

Thanks Wesker for the clarification (and for the compliment ;) ).

So bad we made the same work separately as there are so many good games to adapt from GG to SMS...
