Sega Amplifier SKA-3000 (OT)

That's kinda offtopic, but Sega/Columbia released a Sega branded sound amplifier at some point.
And apparently I bought one because I thought it looked slick next to a SC-3000/SF-7000 combo (it actually looks a little similar to SF-7000). It is really heavy, about 10 kg, so not so friendly for a Sega otaku impulse buy. This page has more pictures: http://www.magoroku.com/namario/dynamic/ska3000.html |

Never seen or heard about it, looks absolutely delightful :-) A Denon it seems.
Although, they sure didn't want to put any more components on the front than they could :-) It almost looks like a poweramp which should have a separate preamp along with it. But if it was a poweramp, why would it have a volume dial... |

Aha, I dug around a little and found this site: http://www.woofer.co.jp/syouhin/new/sega/s-prologue21/index.html
That is a variation of the SKA-3000 but it gives a strong hint that this amp is a part of a larger package which would explain the lack of features most integrated amps have. And the fairly large amount of power sockets on the back :-) Probably from the mid 90s then and not the happy 80s. |
