Localization: Japanese

We plan to localize part of the site (mainly the navigation and headers in the wiki structure) in different languages. Will use this thread to request translation for some words and sentences in Japanese.

Note: translation has to be done by a native Japanese speaker or someone with a proven advanced knowledge of the language, not taking amateur translation.

That is all for now. If we can get those translated and first integrated it'll help general navigation for Japanese users. Then depending on the translater we may move to a process where one could directly edit the site translation data.

I added some awful Google translations for now for some of them, to make sure our pages are correctly picking up the changes.

Note that there is also a Pt-Br translation configured. I am not eager to support a thousand languages, but if any Pt-Br fans want to work on that then I think it may be worth it.

Also, some parts may be broken/unreadable in other languages. Please report these problems so we can fix them.

I guess I could help on the PT-BR part. How should I proceed?

You take the various words from Bock's post above and you provide a correct translation for each of them, I guess.

It goes by itself that I'm up to make an it-IT version if it shall be needed.

I'm hesitant trying to get this too far. More translations will only add a little more care requirement and trouble to us.

My incentive to add Japanese originally was that:
a/ Japanese users don't read english as good as brasilian or european does
b/ We are in need of more contributions and opening from the opening community (eg: scans).
c/ We already have a japanese-pretend forum trying to gather people (there's very few place of those on the japanese internet anymore).

So unless there is a strong concensus for it I would suggest staying away from IT/FR/etc. now. We can always reconsider that later but it should be matched with the on-site game data such as the box texts automatically selected depended on your language maybe? I guess we have higher priorities.

We could support more languages in the future but for now EN and JA are the main ones, and PT-BR is an experiment, because those are two markets where we really want to get more info, scans etc.

In the very long term, adding support for the 8 or so other languages supported by Sega would be possible but not high-priority. Site content is much more important. Also, the internationalisation support is a work in progress so we should not go for all languages at once.
