What about using a snail maze game picture for the t-shirt ?

I guess there's color limitations so something featuring characters from various kick-arse games would not be too possible without things looking wrong ?

Last time we looked (3 years ago) yes, most shops were offering 4 colors shirts with limited palette. So it is difficult to get fully accurate sprites colors. Probably other services can other more colors?

It is summer here and I walk topless, because my cool AmigaOS 4.0 T-Shirt is outdated and the Power.org T-Shirt is black and gets hot very easy.

We need someone to organise this, we also need to make a design (once the limitations are known). Is anyone interested?

teniski.eu have competetive prices - max $5 american dollar for shirt depending on the model. We only need the design and the worldwide shipper (TNT, DHL, UPS, post) prices which may come more expensive than the shirts itself.

They offer discounts for quantity. Minimum is 1 T-Shirt.

I can buy them and send over the world. The post is the cheapest, but not the most sure. UPS is best, but the prices are starting from $40 last time I used them.
TNT and DHL are cheaper, but still expensive.

OK let's get this done before a new competition start :)

I checked my local t-shirt shop. They have variety of base tshirt/polos/shirts including a Turquoise color that's close enough to SMS Power background color if we want to use that.

Over them they can do:
- Full-color heat transcript print. It looks pretty but its clearly something stuck over a color and is more likely to fall apart after a few washes.
- Cutting print, using a single color chosen from a given palette of a dozen they have.
- Silk screen print, can use 1 or 2 colors of your choice. More expensive (within budget). You can feel the matter but it seems solid.

Not sure if the vocabulary match the one used in the west. Anyway I suppose under those restriction (please someone react if you know or better techniques) we would do better with a single color drawing like we had in 2006.

I don't know if others have observed it, but the front of my 2006 shirt has held up much better than the thin line diagram on the back. Keeping that in mind, I came up with a suggestion last year in this post (the Alex Kidd design) that might be good.

Some more hardy material would be good too, I totalled my other shirt, its got sunfading. Its at the stage I can't wear it no more :( oh and also my dogs decided to take a small chunk out of it :@

Silkscreened shirts often go to 2-colour to use one as a "halo" to get the line thickness. But everything I've heard suggests it's the way to go.

As I said before, export Alex Kidd is lame (and kind his eyes are kind of creepy-looking), Japanese Alex Kidd is much cooler, if you feel like some more vectoring.

Someone vectorize a nice representive SMS artwork/picture!

I guess we want to vectorise box art rather than huge vectored pixels. Shaded style (e.g. Psycho Fox) and later SMS games are hard to vector, cartoony ones will work better - but early export covers are so lame...

I suggest

as before.

(I have 0% ability to achieve this, by the way. I suffered hugely in Illustrator to make the PS retranslation manual, for example, and then uninstalled it.)

Edit: Attached is what an online auto-vectoriser made of that cover. It looked better before I tried to reduce the colour palette...

It seems to suffer from the crapness of the autovectorisation :( I spent about 2 minutes at http://vectormagic.com - maybe better to spend longer. As I said, the palette reduction seemed to screw it up but there wasn't an easy undo.

How would it look without color? (as in, one tracing color over a tshirt)
Perhaps even with the other details from the box.
Or you guys think it's better using a technique that is not silkscreen?

Here's a quick and dirty conversion to a single colour. It would look better in black on a light shirt, on SMS Power blue it is lacking contrast but inverting to white looks bad.

Here's a crappy photo of (part of) the design for a t-shirt you get free with an Edge magazine subscription. It's nice to have that "you need to know what it is" look to it, so maybe we could do something similar?

I have ordered the tshirts now.

- They are darkish colors with the SMS design on the front. Anonymous with all text removed to increase the silk-printing quality and make it a total fashion item.

- I made cute stickers as well !

I shipped everything recently btw.
I am really sorry for the <insert> delay.

I hope you used a traced/insured delivery service... Italian mailmen are known to steal packages whenever they can. I asked a friend to send me something from England once, and I told him to use the best delivery option even if it was more expensive because I was going to refund him... But he used the standard delivery option, I never got that package :(

The Italian ~~thieves~~ postmen are famous worldwide... just see all the eBay sellers who won't post to Italy :)

(Ironically, most UK postmen are ex-convicts. And they mostly just steal cash from birthday cards.)

Sorry I sent normal, not insured (I already went way over budget and I thought it wasn't worth bothering so much). I have 1 spare shirt in case one goes missing.

I'm not so happy with how the shirts turned out, we need a proper designer next time. The stickers are quite cute though. Not that I usually use any stickers, but my phone looks much better now.

Ah, shame. If there is a competition I can enter, I will, I have NO skills mind ;)

Maybe competitions should be announced rather soon, in case programmers want to get some good amount of time into their entry.

Well, provisionally, there's a competition for 2011 ending on 27th March. If that one doesn't happen, there'll be one ending 27th March 2012. If that one doesn't happen... etc.

I expect we will do something. To be honest, the hardest part is organising the shirts :) so if anyone (we can trust) can commit to helping with that it'd be great.

	The only way to get one is to enter the competitions :) We'll probably have some ending in March 2011... (Or you can get your own printed, the artwork is around the forums somewhere.)

	Maybe competitions should be announced rather soon, in case programmers want to get some good amount of time into their entry.

	Well, provisionally, there's a competition for 2011 ending on 27th March. If that one doesn't happen, there'll be one ending 27th March 2012. If that one doesn't happen... etc. I expect we will do something. To be honest, the hardest part is organising the shirts :) so if anyone (we can trust) can commit to helping with that it'd be great.
