A nice rendition of one of my all-time favourite chiptunes. A lot of this 80s Japanese chipmusic seems designed for electric guitar...

This entry is good BUT it does have its share of issues. I am not saying its crappy but theres just a few harmonic issues (note choices and chord voicings) that sound rather naff, it just takes away the overall feel from it.

Also for the whole song I was expecting at some point it would whale into a solo, but it didn't.

I considered doing this tune myself for the competition but in the end discovered I couldn't really do much good to it. As Maxim said however the guitar does sound good, and unlike other times in previous years when people use guitar.. its in tune!

I think the source is excellent and the guitar playing is fine for the most part. I agree about most of what Jacko wrote, though. I'm also missing a guitar solo!

Thanks for the comments.
I do agree with most of them.

Oh, for the record, i did record a guitar solo, actually, i probably record a dozen guitar solos. But all of them sounded bad, compared to the original melody.
I guess i like the original so much, that i couldn't find any modifications i tried to sound good.

Again,thanks for the comments.
I should probably comment on all the songs today or tomorrow.

Some really good entries this year.

Overall I liked it, but I couldn't help thinking the guitar needed to be just an octave above where it was being played. There was a certain whaling guitar type sound I was expecting to kick in at any moment but it didn't quite hit that moment of epicness.

Some dubious notes (I guess you could call them jazz) but most of what is there is really good, I just wish there was more stuff in there. There are some parts in the original song that I'm sure would have translated nicely into organ or string harmonies. And of course, as has already been stated, a guitar solo would have been awesome.
And that reminds me, I never got around to commenting on last years songs but I absolutely loved your Snail Bite entry. That was pure genius!

Thanks for the comment.
Yeah, i really tried to make a good guitar solo, but nothing i recorded or could think of, worked for this song.

Thanks man, not many people seemed to enjoy a faster-paced version of the Snail song.

Pretty good, but not one of tibone's best recordings.
