"Drivin Down to Skull Land" (Psycho Fox)

Hello,
My artist name is Mutherpluckin' B, and I've been making Ni****do remixes
for a couple of years. Included here is my first ever SMS cover, a rather happy
sounding country version of the Skull Land tune from Psycho Fox. I recorded it
in three days, which I believe is the fastest I've ever made a remix (I'm
currently working on a Ni****do album which has taken years...).
As with all of my songs, production is pretty old-fashioned, featuring
guitars, bass and a drum soundfont played by me.

You're always welcome to check all of my music out at:

I tried to vote but it didnt seem to let me :/

All that tune is missing is some good vocals, I kept thinking some were about to kick in any second :o)

I would have voted 7 if it would let me!

The MP3 has been updated slightly.

This remix goes quite far from the original, instead of being a rearrangement it takes the core melody and adapts it to a totally different feeling. And it sounds really great.

I agree with Maxim here, this mix is really good. It isn't all that far away from the original, it uses the same harmonic structure for the most part, its just missing the melody.

The mix overall is very nice, although I think with some sort of melodic line over the top it would lift the mix to the next level.

Good effort overall!

It almost sounds like the opening theme to some TV show. Its well produced if nothing else and does sound great. I would have prefered if there were more of a nod to the original sounds, but then I never did like country music :)

This is amazing. Very fun to listen to. All the sounds fit right in,the guitar has the right amount of sparkly and dirty. The bass sound is just full and round, like it should be, the rythym is there and the drums don't repeat themselves too much.
Excellent job and excelllent re-arrange. Congrats! My favorite out of the bunch.

Thank you very much, everybody! I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the positive reactions.

I've been making video game music covers for a couple of years, so I've had some time to get a feel for it. I usually do a lot more work arranging and tweaking my remixes than I did with this one (which doesn't necessarily make this one any worse). But I took the opportunity to use the tight deadline (I came in very late) to make a pretty straight no-frills arrangement.

Overall I have a better knack for rhythm than melody, which I guess shows in this song. But when the competition is over, I might tinker a bit with it and maybe add a second guitar during the second repetition. Feel free to fiddle with it if you actually want to play with vocals or cowboy effects. :)

Anyone who wants to hear more of my music are always welcome to visit my site at http://lidbjork.homelinux.org/n_intendo (remove underscore).
I'm currently working on an album of rock remixes of songs mostly from that other 8-bit console...

How about http://lidbjork.homelinux.org/nintendo?

(The autolinkification happens before the b*d w*rd filter anyway, so http://lidbjork.homelinux.org/Ni****do works too.)
