Birthdays?
Post Posted: Mon Jul 07, 2008 5:37 pm
Hi all,

What if we added some birthday-related functionality on these forums.

After all, we all get to know Bock's birthday, but I think we could get something like orkut's funcionality on these boards for everyone.

BTW, I went 30 yesterday =D

What do you think ?

We avoid unnecessary stuff on the forums, aiming to keep it "light". Hence, no avatars, signatures, birthday announcements, etc. But if you think it would add value, please convince us :)

Well I think everyone likes and deserves to be complimented on this special occasion, regardless of one's contribution to this community.

After all, this would be another step to knowing ppl better, considering that one of those was the global map of members.

I don't know, perhaps I am just spoiled 'cause I received many compliments on orkut and logged here and received.... nothing.

We could add a calendar, where we would include games release date to celebrate their anniversary (luckily, most japanese dates are known) and also includes members and some events (competitions).
Happy birthdays guys :)

What about making a community google calendar or something? I think this would be ideal as it would act as a place for everyone from the community to add stuff. But I agree with Maxim, the forums are clean and not cluttered, which makes user experience rather pleasurable whilst browsing the forums.

Just another idea into the melting pot.

Thanks Tom!

Bock, Jacko, Google Calendars can be embedded just as Maxim did with the global map:

A while back I started trying to fill a Google calendar with (Japanese) SMS game release dates. Search for "master system" in the public calendars.

I'd rather not rely on Google for something so simple.
