Post Posted: Fri Aug 03, 2007 12:00 am
Tec Toy here in brazil just released a new SMS now with 131 built in games...
Seems like they removed some sega games and put some more new hacks...

nice set of games

It looks like they're putting lots more effort into game development than back in the days of 20 em 1! Also pretty fancy that they have Galactic Protector on there. Must be hacked to use one of those fancy joysticks.

How does a Murrcan go about getting these?

These guys should consider releasing games for the Wii Virtual Console... once it supports SMS games.

Just a small comment about "Pense Bem (10 Jogos)"...
"Pense Bem" was a toy computer released by Tec Toy back in 80's (I had one), that had many activities, like math, thinking, and i liked a lot to play with it..
It also had a program system os answers and questions that you used books that came with the toy to play, there was also one with Sonic...
Maybe this game is a software version of this old toy....

Why would TecToy replace original games with theirs? Two ideas:

1) to squeeze more games in less rom space
2) to cut custs licensing less games from SEGA?

But paying someone to develope that games instead of licensing SEGA games are really worth?

I think number 1 is the correct answer.

I have even another different thinking about that...
That could be because of the market target of the console that Tec Toy have in mind, because it's being selling as a child console, not a collector's, even a "super hit" console...
That's why they are changing the games to have more puzzle like, and kiddy games, because the SMS 131 games built in is being selling as a similar to many and many N*S clones in brazil (Dynacom dynavision extreme for example)...

It'll be a big rom physically, but we'd split it up to individual games to make it playable in emulators. I don't know if there's any plans to dump these yet.

You gotta love Tectoy.
The wonderboys are probably in here in some hacked form.
They should put in component output or at least rgb output in this baby.
Is there anything in here that'l use more than 2 buttons?
start button = pauze

Hey those guys are developers... The page says that 35 games in this new release of SMS were made by them.

Incredible to imagine guys being paid for developing for SMS.

Today i saw that DVD Player on a supermarket there in São Paulo, that console is terrible...
The image shakes a lot, and so bad quality, and was plugged on a CRT Flat Screen TV, atlhough don't working on component video...
I really don't reccomend to buy this console, and i saw that the joypad recognizes all buttons (A,B,C,X,Y,Z + start), and resets pressing X+Y+Z...
It's more like a genny system with SMS roms loaded because it shows the SEGA Logo exactly like some Genny games show (same resolution i saw)...

Well, it was possible to dump the mega drive 4 'guitar hero' contents, so I would assume at least one of those "xxx games built in master systems" would require a similar process.

Also, I took another look at those files dumped from the Mega Drive 4, and apparently it uses BREW fo the 'uncommon' games (like Simcity, FIFA and the Guitar Hero one) - does anyone know an emulator that runs BREW games? ;)
