MegaDrive 1 Video Problems (OT)

Hey Folks,
Now I know that you are going to have a go about me posting stuff about MegaDrive, but I need a quick answer so I will post here. Today I bought a MegaDrive 1 from the local gaming store and got it home, powered it on and I find the screen is all screwed up, here are some pics This shows the screwed up image through an RF connection And once again through an AV connection. One thing I have noticed though is the screwed up colours is over the same pattern with both images. I was just wondering if anyone has ever seen this and are there any ways in which I can fix this? Please let me know asap Many Thanks Scott |

Hmm... Did you try another TV set?
I know that with magnets, you achieve about the same effect on a monitor... |

Yes, that's a monitor with some magnet effects on it.
Try to de-magnetize it. If you don't know how to do that, ask. |

Does the TV work fine with another video source? If so, is it a different video standard (NTSC TV, PAL MD, or PAL TV with NTSC MD)?

Yup it works fine with other video sources,
Its a PAL-G MegaDrive with a PAL B/G TV set, however in RF mode you can change the TV to NTSC, so I will try that and see what happens |

I tried switching through the various NTSC modes (3.58 and 4. whatever it is) and one gave me worse results and the other gave me a B&W picture, I will try it on my bros TV and see what happens.

Congratulations! You've just discovered the Megadrive's hidden Blast Colouring mode!

I think this guy called LocalH (who frequents the Sonic 2 Beta forums) had the same problem a while ago, but I have no idea if he ever managed to fix it.
I could be thinking of the wrong person, though. |

Sure did emu, it gives the same results so its definitely something with the system. I ain't gonna take it back I can't be stuffed. |

probably not worth saying but could it be the game that has some sort of wierd effect on the colour output?
