I've made the YM2413 emulation that will be in an upcoming version of SMS Plus available for other emu authors to use.
You can get the current version here:

http://www.emucamp.com/cgfm2/zip/opllemu.zip

All you have to do is modify the OPL_WRITE macro
to send data to whatever output device you want to use.
It's intended to work in tandem with the YM3812 emulator
from MAME, but you could use a real Sound Blaster OPL-2 sound
chip as well.
