Oh oh oh, were you nice kids this year?
SMS Santa Power left nifty ROM dumps under the tree for you all! First let's make a trip to 1983, for some of the oldest Sega console games, with a thematic on game traditionnally played in Japan. Mahjong for the SG-1000 (麻雀, also referred to as Sega Mahjong, セガ麻雀), fourth game for the SG-1000, and as you guessed, one of those so popular Mahjong game. It's 1983-rough, and apart from the die-hard fan you may not do much it. Still from 1983, we're glad and proud to release what is arguably one of the rarest Sega 8-bit game ever: Pachinko for the SG-1000 (パチンコ). Released shortly before its successor, Pachinko II, in very limited quantities, it is known as a collector gem, fetching insane prices in shops or auctions. Gameplay wise, it is a watered down version of Pachinko II, so you're not missing much. Othello for the SG-1000 (オセロ), a 1985 release, converted from the game originally embedded in Othello Multivision units (a SG-1000 clone). It embed a 2KB RAM chipset for handling the computer player AI. Five level of difficulty and two players, it's basic but very playable. Back to good old arcade games! C_So! for the SG-1000 (シーソー), released as a MyCard game, it is curious and interesting level based arcade game. I won't spoil it too much, but it'll take a bit to get used to manoeuvring in levels with trampolines and balances. Definitively worth a play. How far can you get? The game also feature a level editor, although crippled by current emulators as saving is using supported via the Sega Recorder tape drive, currently not emulated. Fast forward in the future, with some Game Gear releases as complement. Ichidant~R GG (Puzzle & Action) for the Game Gear (イチダントアールGG), sequel to Tanto-R/Tant-R, a compilation of short games in a wacky universe. Although perhaps not as fresh as the first of the serie, Ichidant~R GG is still a must play. In last we have Deep Duck Trouble - Starring Donald Duck for the Game Gear, this game in its English version. The Japanese version was previously made available, but the English one is a fresh dump. |

Excellent clutch of releases, but what's the story with Othello?
Is it a bootleg or homebrew cart? Or did Tsukuda lisence it for release on the SG-1000 as a cart, as well as including it in the OMV firmware? Would you be able to scan the box at all? |

Disregard Q....
It clearly is an officialy licensed cart from Tsukuda (looking at title screen). My apologies - getting a bit post happy..... |

Tsukuda Original owns the rights to the Othello game. The SG-1000 game was published and developed by Sega. |
