First, do the SMS and GG use DRAM or SRAM? I heard at one point they use SRAM, but I believe (in 1986) 8KB of SRAM would have been too expensive for a game console. Can anyone confirm the type of memory used in these systems?

Secondly, assuming DRAM, do the SMS and GG use the Z80 DRAM refresh feature or do they use their own refresh controller?
