Space Harrier 3D .vgm?
Post Posted: Sun Sep 17, 2006 2:14 am
Does Space Harrier 3D music need to be ripped? Was wondering if someone else was working on it. Thanks.

it seems that it's not listed in the pending VGM packs list

Maybe wait a few days for someone to chime in with "I did it but never sent it yet", then have at it.

[Note to self: release some VGM packs sometime.]

That would be nice. I've been waiting for about a year now...

me too Classic Game Guy,

I still may have those e-mails in my archive somewhere when I first did The Castle VGM pack.

The final version of the pack that I sent to maxim was from the 5th of October 2005 so its nearly been a year but not quite.

I could have an annaversary for the VGM pack if required (sorry maxim I like making people feel guilty)

Websites say that to get to the sound test you enter "SOUND" as your initials in Game Over with controller 2 after getting above 6th place. However you can only put in 3 letters. Anyone know what to do?

Do I record and trim the FM version separately from the non-FM? I know I provide two packages, but I didn't know if the data was included in both somehow, or something like thta.

FM and non-FM are totally separate - VGM files are a log of the data sent to the sound chip(s), so the FM one will have a tiny bit of PSG data, just turning it off, and (perhaps) vice versa.

Don't know if there is a way to just log the FM version and then take out the FM data for the American package, so that logging only has to be done once for both.

No: the point is, the data is not the same for both, when the game's in FM mode it'll only produce data for the FM chip, and when it's in PSG mode, it'll only produce PSG data. Logging the data is not at all hard, just use a fast frameskip value.

I have the composers listed as Hiroshi Miyauchi and Izuho Takeuchi. Does anyone know if that is correct? Also, the sound test lists one song as "Stanley," which I suppose I should correct to read "Stanray."

I don't know how to loop Wiwi Jumbo. I'm just going to let it play for about a minute and then stop it.

For the existing pack, the ripper looped it at a point where it sounded OK, even if it wasn't "correct". Since it's a nasty unmelodic track, I usually end up skipping it anyway - so I could live with a shorter version with a suitable comment explaining it.
