Music Station comments and bug report
Post Posted: Wed Apr 12, 2000 9:24 pm
Nice job Ricardo, it's very fun to hear that using PSG sound.
I wonders how it does sound on a real system. I suppose it was originally for MSX?

By the way, there was a bug in Meka which I was tracking when I noticed that the ROM
have the .SG extension and you are actually using SMS features. The SG-1000 have 4 kilobyte
of RAM actually, not 8 kilobyte. So be sure to rename it to SMS in the next release, unless you
plan to produce cartridges with on board RAM :)

Sound the same as in brsms.
All my sg1000 programs are first tested on an msx.
After all, they are quite the same machine.

No problem. I can reduce memory usage of music station to 4kb.
Finding bugs is the purpose of releasing betas, I think.

You shouldn't bother, it's fine with 8kb, just rename it to SMS :)
How much RAM does a standard MSX1 have?

Seems to make massive uses of the sound engine, heh? ^_^
I'll work on it.

Too late. Already reduced the memory usage to 4kb.
Could be done with just 2kb, but why bother ?

the absolute minimum is 8kb ram + 16kb vram
but all the brazilian versions started with 64kb ram + 1 kb
my current msx has 4Mb ram + 128kb vram (well, one of them. I have 5 different msx at home :)

I did have a master system too. But I opened it up and and removed all the ICs
in order to understand a bit better the inner workings of sms.
