Hi, for quite many years I have wondered if this game ever came out? Can anybody tell what happened to it? It is also pictured in the Finnish games catalog, but the picture is not the same, this one seems to be from the arcade original (the game in the lower right corner):

I just loved the arcade original but I never had any luck finding the game for my Sega Sc 3000 back in the 80's. In fact, it was the only game listed in the Finnish catalog that I did not find ;).

Funny thing is that it's available on the Coleco Vision which is like a SG-1000 but with less RAM... maybe it could be converted to run on the SG-1000.

Yes I'm aware of the Coleco version. I have also played the Commodore 64 cassette tape version. I heard that the Spectrum version was cancelled, though. In all SG games list I've seen the game #13 is missing. Could this missing G-1013 be Up'n Down? http://sg1000.emucamp.com/sggames.htm#1

Perhaps they cancelled it at the last minute from some odd reason? At least in the japanese Sega ad it looks a lot better than the Coleco version. I guess that we will never know for sure what happened, though.

Monthly Micom '83 #10 (september) has an ad with it as a listed game coming soon - up n down and sinbad mystery use stills from the arcade version, and orguss uses promotional art. note that this isn't an ad from sega, but a computer store

No, and for a first party game from this period I think it's unlikely one will appear unless someone at Sega finds it in storage and includes it on some Sega Ages release or something like that. The Colecovision version has been converted to SG-1000 though.

I was literally looking at this just this morning, funny how you stumble across the same things twice in 1 day. Thanks for sharing though buddy. It's a really interesting story about this one. I also like the story about Pachinko (recalling the first game) and Pachinko II.
