New Import Video Game Store

Whilst we are a shop and not a fan site, we are a shop run by fans so hopefully that makes us worthy of a listing here!
www.GenkiVideoGames.com We recently updated our range of desirable titles with a large batch of collectable games from Japan, mostly on the 16 & 32 Bit Sega systems, but we hope to expand our Game Gear section... If there's anything your after for your import collection, and its not on the site, please let us know.... Peter. GenkiVideoGames.com |

Meh, it worked this afternoon. He had a bunch of cart-only GG games and a few in boxes, mostly Zenki stuff and some Bare Knuckle I think.

Sorry you see us as spammers. Most of the office crew only have spam in their sandwiches. Believe me, the money in retro games ain't what it used to be when we sold viagar to sites like this. The site should be working fine now. Admittedly the GG section isn't what it should be, but hopefully there are some nice other Sega bits on there if that floats your boat or are you guys strictly GG Puritans?
If you want to see my own personal Sega tatoo's: the Christmas getting a GG was one of my happiest - Pengo and Columns to the wee hours. Hope we can get some feedback and help complete a few collections out there. Peter, www.GenkiVideoGames.com |

As a Sega 8-bit we'd be happier if you had more Sega 8-bit content, but you're welcome to make yourself known here. Posting in the Website forum: rather than the Trading forum: suggested you were more interested in getting a link than in getting some of that selling love. However, we're a happy clappy open-minded bunch in general and I'm sure there's a few people who'd be interested, which is why I went to the extra effort compared to simply clicking on Delete. |

Are you likely to be getting any SG1000 or Mark III stock at any point?

Appreciate the loving being reciprocated. Sorry we posted in the wrong area. We can get SG1000 and Mark III but this is actually the first request we've had for them. Still if you'd like to get in touch with a list of anything you might be searching for we could let you know the prices. If you did order it in we'd scan it for the site so hopefully any other surfers of our site could learn about these systems and see they are available. Mind you, we'd have to do a bit more studying too. We're always quite surprised by the demand for early Sega systems there is in Japan. Maybe we should get involved?

Sorry we can't easily get pachinko and space slalom on the sg-1000 but we'll put you on a hit list if you would like (no pressure)?
As for the GG titles, I think those will be far easier to pick up in the West if you don't mind the packaging, but we will try to find them for you if you wish. Is it ok to air our dirty grogs like this or should it all go through PM's? |

Thank you for your interest in what we can obtain for the early Sega Japanese Systems. We aren't sure on alot of the titles, so please don't get too excited if you see a title you've never heard of before - its probably just our poor translation! (^^) If you can help by correcting us we'd be most grateful. We have been approached previously to supply UK Master System, games to Japan: such is their collectability due to the systems lack of glory there in the eyes of stiff PC Engine and Famicom competiton. A lot of Sega fans have gone back to complete their collections it would seem…. So the prices of Japanese titles may be more than what you are used to paying: Phantasy Star being the most expensive (at £34.99), but most titles weigh in at a more respectable UK Pounds £17.99 once they have been shipped and cleared customs.... Some for £11.99…. We do have other suppliers who may be more competitive but it takes a wee bit longer to ship… Are Japanese titles as collectable in the West?
Mark III/SG1000/My Card Titles (Sorry all mixed together…) Astro Warrior Astro Rush After Burner Arugosu no Jujiken Aleste Alex Kid Miracle World Anmitsu ? Alien Shindo Rome SDI Captain Silver Galaxtic Protector Great Soccer Great Tennis Great Volleyball Great Football Kensaiden? Konami Hyper Sports Thunderblade Zaxxon 3D The Pro Baseball Pennant Race Shinobi Zippy Race Space Harrier Super Racing Champion Ice Hockey Champion Soccer Champion Tennis Champion Baseball Teddy Boy Blues Tensai Bakabon Triformation Doki Doki PenguinLand Space Adventure Dragon One Dororu ? Nascar 88 Ne? Koshien Hang On Hang On 2 Bank Panic Family Games Phantasy Star Fantasy Zone Blade Igloo ? Hoshi wo Sagashite (Search for a Star) Masters Golf Sengoku Jidai Mahjong (Warring Period Mahjong) Megumi (?) Rescue Monaco GP Lord of Sword There were a few more kanji intensive titles we can look into if anyone so desires.... |

In an off-board email conversation with our Genki friends, I corrected some of the more obvious mistakes on this list. The above post can stay, perhaps for comedic value.
First thing to note is that Japanese SMS games will not work on a non-Japanese SMS. The cartridges are different. Adaptors are non-existent as far as I know. You need a Japanese SMS. Your AC adaptor will work with it and you can connect the AV port up to a SCART connector, especially the sort that came with all French SMSs. I have no idea if a Mark III has a suitable AV port. SG-1000 and Game Gear have no regional differences, although you might meet some PAL/NTSC issues on SG-1000. On to the game list: SMS:
Not sure if it's SMS or SG-1000:

Thanks for clearing up about the system differences. It has been a pure education dealing with you...! If anyone would like any of the games or a Japanese system please get in touch. But be reassured: Japan loves the early Sega machines as much as all you very friendly purists on this forum.

It seems to be up and down like... hmm... something proverbial. It looks like DNS issues, it's failing to resolve to an IP every now and again, maybe there's an alternative URL like our smspower.speedhost.com address?

Spot on Maxim. Sorry the issue has been fixed now and all should be once again rosy in our garden of Eastern delights. If there are any titles we can order in for any SMS fans out there, please email us on sales@GenkiVideoGames.com
We'd love to have the kudos of having a few on the site and it'd bring back some nice memories - apart from those skull crushing 3D glasses! Peter www.GenkiVideoGames.com |
