We now have a news forum and the front page retrieves its articles from there. This allows us to have discussions of news articles; allows you to see new news listed in the forum index; and allows us to promote some forum members to be able to post news on the front page. It will also allow news RSS feeds using the existing RSS engine, although I didn't add the necessary tags for feed discovery from the front page yet, and the RSS script is filtering items older than 2 weeks anyway (which makes Firefox report a error).
