A little celebration
Post Posted: Tue Jul 27, 1999 10:05 pm
It was 28 months ago. A site called SMS Camp opened, and was mentionned on Node 99 on the same day. The first few weeks, it was a standard Master System ROM site (back in the time, SMS emulation was in it's glory days), and then we started releasing new roms, our first release being Ghostbuster for the Master System. The site was then renamed to Emulation Camp, which is still up, and SMS Power derived from it not so long ago. Well, to celebrate this day (who else than SMS Power can have the stupid idea to celebrate a 28 months anniversary ?) there will be four releases..

First release is Space Invaders for the Sega Game 1000. It is one of the latest game for this system, as it was released in 1985 - the Master System was introduced in 1986. It doesn't have any fancy stuff, it is simply a colored version of the mythic game. Old gamers will definitively have to check it out!

Second release is one (if not THE) of the most requested game for the Master System: Lucky Dime Caper, starring Donald Duck. We personnally don't think it is a very good game, but judging by the number of requests for it, it should be popular. It is a platform game, for those who are wondering.

Third release is the Game Gear port of Wonderboy 3, Zoop's all-time favorite game. It is pretty famous for the Master System, and it's late port is not well known. Due to the smaller size of the screen, the levels structures had to be changed, and Westone (the developers) also changed a few things making it enjoyable to replay even if you know everything of the original one. Wonderboy 3: Dragon's Trap is the second episode of the Monster World serie, and isn't the same as Wonderboy 3: Monster Lair, which is a crap platform/shoot-em-up game released on Arcade and Genesis. You can find more about both games here.

A cool guy called Snorter has just joigned us. You may have heard of him, as he opened a site a few days ago and released a new 32x game, called Kolibri. Of course the Sega 32x is not yet emulated, but Snorter is also dumping Genesis games and judging by the amount of missing games and badly dumped games, he will probably have a lot of work to do. Your help and donations are welcome, so be sure to contact us if you have Genesis or 32x games. Anyway, that leads us to our fourth release for today: Star Gate. All the roms on the net didn't work? You though it wasn't even dumpable? Nothing is impossible for SMS Power! And we'll have to change our name, too. What about Sega Power, or do you have a better suggestion? Voice your opinion on the forum, and enjoy!
