Does anybody know how to program for the Dreamcast VMS?
If we could learn how to program for the VMS, then we could release games for it over the 'net.
Is this a good idea? (probably not :)

Problem is that the devkit and docs are not something publicly open.

Can you tell us how to or give us sample code then, or is it something you're not allowed?
I'd really love to play a home-brewed game on my nice new DC VMS.
A conversion of Space Invaders or Breakout would be cool to play at school :-)

Damn. I think they should be.
Sega should relese a VMU programming 'game' for the Dreamcast.
That would be cool.

I'm not allowed to, sorry :(

Haha, yeah. If I ever have time I should be able to write a little, crappy game.
But you know, the VMS is a very slow and limited machine, especially when not connected to the DC pad.

Too slow to play Space Invaders or Breakout? What about Pong?

Yeah, Pong!
You could connect two VMS's and play head-to-head!
Or you could try to get a really long rally going using one VMS.
Like Micro Machines on the Game Gear.
The D-Pad controls one paddle, and the buttons control the other.
How utterly boring!
I'm just getting carried away here, so don't mind me (la la la la la la la!)

whooppee! but if you dont act quick, some company will release their own copy and expect people to buy it.. as a freebee with the DC pong we assume.

heh, .
micromachines2 on megadrive was cool, two people on each of the 4 joypads, two of the joypad plugged into the cart directly! those codemasters deserve their name.
but anyways..
i think the cpu inside the vmu is called 'potato' (as in potato chip - groan) but that could be wrong ;)
the thing itself seems a bit boring. just like your ideas ;)

Now then, it can't be that crappy.
From what I've seen of the VMU Football game, I reckon you should be able to top it.
Keep up the good work

The docs are not really explicit about that, but I believe "Potato" is the codename of the VMS/VMU.
