Lots of US boxes, plus a few cartridges and manuals from Youltar. Australian promotional material suggesting killing fish, and loads of low-quality Japanese images just to realise how many need to be scanned...

I scanned a book :) It's one of those covermounted magazine game cheats/tips books from 1992, which for some reason I've kept all these years.

That is very cool. Any chance of a pdf of it?? would be nice to search through the pdf for a specific game if needed.

To make it searchable, you'd need to OCR it. I don't know what the state of the art is in OCR software, but the free software that came with my scanner about five years ago is kind of sucky, but works far better than the best free OCR software I could find currently available.
The only problem is, it requires 1-bit scans at at least 300dpi which would make it take a lot longer to scan (this book took about an hour). It is trainable though, although I never managed to get it to work any better while training; ultimately it may be possible to get some software trained enough to recognise entire manuals. But anyway, these scans aren't easily OCRable, and I need a faster scanner. |
